    Lee,
I really want one of your custom Jazzmaster’s, but their far too expensive, fancy lowering the price?

Keep up the noise and the weirds.

    Joe

  2. echocanyon says:

Hey Joe (t coin a phrase, haha, (and the true origin of Hey Joni, at least as much as Ms Mitchell)): yes they are a bit expensive. We wanted them well-made + quality, gtrs we could actually play onstage (not facsimile, dig?), and therefore made in USA (=pricier). Sorry about that, we Really tried t also keep them as cheap as we could). Crack open that piggy bank Joe!

  3. drew says:

    hi lee!

i really dig these photos! the second to last one with the swirly delayed exposure is killer! while i have seen/heard you play with sy many times over the years, these pics with your jazzmasters floating in action make me very curious about your solo/duo performances! i’ll definitely come check you out when you come through SF!

    safe travels!

  4. Mk says:

    Hey LR,
You are for me one of the best music performers, it would be great if you could make a trip to Belgrade (Serbia), make some show here.

  5. Bret Johnston says:

These pics bring back lots of good memories for me. I lived in NYC in the mid to late 90s and was lucky enough to see you perform quite a few times in various projects, usually at the (now defunct?) Cooler on 14th St. In particular, I remember a time with you, William Hooker, DJ Spooky, and I think Alan may have joined you onstage as well. Hope to see you next week in Madison, WI if I’m remotely able to get out to your show!

  6. Ryan H. says:

What kind of Jazzmaster is that sunburst one? It looks like one of those new ones with the tune-o-matic and what not, Classic Player I think. Also, I haven’t really listened to much of your solo stuff yet, is it any good? Haha. It seems like more laid back stuff from what I’ve heard. I’m typically more into the crazier stuff from the days of your “Youth”(See what I did there?) but that kinda stuff would be really good for a more relaxed mood, which makes me wonder, what mood am I normally in? Though I haven’t heard all of your stuff, I really need to check it out. Another question, how do you set your guitars up for the unusual tunings? I get the use of different string gauges and doubling up on strings, but I’ve seen some really weird gauges listed on that SY gear guide site… .56 for an A? Do you loosen the truss rod? I guess you have to cut the nut to fit some of those bigger strings. I have a feeling that you don’t even do that stuff yourself, well not these days anyways. I have a guitar tuned to F#F#GGAA which I just used different gauges for and didn’t do anything else with it… I’m not sure that’s how I should have done it… I used a B string from a set of .11s for the first A and a B string from a set of .10s for the second becuase that seemed to fit better in the nut… I don’t know why I’m bothering to type all this, I guess it’s because I never thought I’d be able write something where you could see it and possibly reply, but then I saw you replied to that one guy… Sonic Youth is probably my favorite band ever, I think it would seem uncommon for a 17 year old from a small town in central Texas would be as into SY as I am, some people might just like the music but I not only like the music but I want to make music in a similar fashion with the weird tunings and the noisiness. I would have a band if I knew anyone who was also interested in that sort of thing… You rock Lee. Umm… I’ve run out of things to say. Okay then. I hope that you see this.

  7. Julian says:

me quede muy contento de ver estas fotos pre show del ultimo y venidero Lee, en Buenos Aires… un gran saludo y abrazo Lee.
