Lyrics   status: confirmed

See flashing eyes
They're flashing 'cross to me
Burnin' up the sky
Sunshinin' into me
Your locus crown
A cop-killin' heartbeat
Head's lookin' down
Bowin' out to the street

I'm just walkin' around
Your city is a wonder town

Lips red to white
Lips green in blacked night
Your spirit flares
Flaring up leonine

I'm just walkin' around
Your city is a wonder town

Transmitter rhyme
Transmitter all the time
Lookin' up to the sky
I'm seein' ghosts flyin'

I'm just walkin' around
Your city is a wonder town

I think I've been there once before
Something tells me there's so much more
She's back in town to even the score
It's time to go

See flashin' eyes
They're flashin 'cross to me
Burnin' up the sky
Sunshinin' into me
Your locus crown
A cop-killin' heartbeat
Head's lookin' down
Bowin' out to the street
I'm just walkin' around
Your city is a wonder town....

NOTES:

  • Working title: "The Town & The City" + "Huskeriffic"
  • According to Confusion is Next, the song was originally titled after a Jack Kerouac poem, but later became "The Wonder", a term which mystery writer James Ellroy used to describe Los Angeles.
  • At a 1990 show in Washington, DC, Thurston states that "The Wonder" was written while walking around Washington.
  • Part "a" of the Trilogy. The Wonder, Hyperstation, and Eliminator Jr were written in similar guitar tunings so SY rehearsed them as a single piece.
