Lyrics   status: unconfirmed

You're not telling what you feel
You're just saying you can't deal
You're just lying in an orange peel
You're just saying it ain't real

Mom told you, and I'll tell you
You better clean it up
Clean up your room

I'm not telling you what to feel
I'm just saying I can't deal
You're just lying like a peel
I'm just saying you ain't real

Your mom told you, and I'll tell you
You better straighten up
You're such a messy son

You're so hot
You're baked
Entangled

Tuna fish cans, chocolate wrapper
Jello box, stuffed gorilla, phone bill
Fax paper, cranberry juice, dirty socks
CDs, tapes, guitar pick, new snare
Highschool yearbook, comb
And all those letters

Your mom told you, and I'll tell you
If you make me cry
I'll poke your eye

I'll tear you limb from limb
You're lying in your room
If what they say is true
Then I say we're through

Track length: 3:25

First Known Performance: 08/09/90
Last Known Performance:  11/15/90

NOTES:

  • Performed live on the Goo tour, and released instrumentally as "The Bedroom" on the Dirty Boots EP (live version taken from 11/3/90 Irvine, CA). The last of the Dirty outtakes. A demo entitled "Can Song" appears on the Goo deluxe edition.
  • Supposedly Kim's musical take on J Mascis' bedroom.
  • On the 4xLP version of the Dirty deluxe reissue, the song is incorporated into the running order of the album, on side 3 after 'Chapel Hill'.
  • The title comes from a photo by Jeff Wall, available on the cover of the 2006 b-sides & rarities compilation of the same name (which, curiously, does not contain this song!).
