Track length: 30:01
First Known Performance: 04/01/99
Last Known Performance: 06/17/01
NOTES:
- Originally composed by John Cage (for William
Winant, who plays on the original version) in 1992.
- Two quartets each did a version of this piece,
then they merged them together. Thurston, Lee,
William, and Takehisa perform in the left speaker,
and Kim, Steve, Jim, and Wharton perform
in the right.
- Again, I don't really know who plays what here.
It seems likely that everybody kept switching
between instruments throughout the recording..
There seems to be a lot of various unrecognizable
sounds throughout the piece, too... among the
instruments heard are guitars in both speakers,
various percussion devices (bells, cymbals, toms,
vibes, tympani, clay drum, marimba), several
synths (possibly Lee & Jim?), what's likely an
effected violin screeching, a recurring backwards sample
in the right speaker that's supposedly taken
from a Black Sabbath song (can anybody confirm that?),
some whistlin', and of course Kim's "lalalala" and
"lets go lets go lets go".
