I love you baby cuz you're back in time
I love you today
Your eyes are flashing back a magic sign
The sun comes out to play

I learned it all from you, girl
I got it all from you
How to howl at the moon, yeah
And how to scratch a dog
I do it everyday
Come back again tomorrow
And chase it all away

A dreamin' beauty sleepin' day and night
The sun around you
I love you baby yeah you're super fine
Claw me down too
Purrin', whirrin', fuzzy lights of day
Switchin' sunlight
Chase a kitten, catch it every time
Funny how it flies

I learned it all from you, girl
I got it all from you
How to howl at the moon, yeah
How to scratch a dog
I do it everyday
Come back again tomorrow
And chase a life away

I hear you purrin', yeh super soul
I puff into it
Glisten leather yeh boots and gold
Leather tear away

I learned it all from you, girl
I got it all from you
How to howl at the moon, yeah
How to scratch a dog
I do it everyday
Come back again tomorrow
And chase it all away

NOTES:

  • "Purr" was one of 4 songs recorded for a Mark Goodier BBC session that was originally broadcast on 7/20/92. It's the only one of the 4 to be released officially (Burning Spear, Youth Against Fascism, and Creme Brulee were the others). Featured on both the Youth Against Fascism and Sugar Kane singles (possibly w/ varying titles), the BBC version features Thurston playing two tracks of acoustic rhythm guitar and the rest of the band playing just a little more laid back. It's pretty damn good, and it's also worth tracking down the other 3 songs from the session.
