Ridin' down the road it nearly struck me blind
You and me burnin' in the summertime
Let's go find some shady ground
Gotta get rid of the king hell from frown
You and me burnin' in the summertime
You and me burnin' in the summertime
Scrape-scrape-scrapin' melted cheese
Say I love you later please
You and me burnin' in the summertime
You and me burnin' in the summertime
Dark spots floatin' in front of my eyes
Mama said she turned it on like swattin' flies
You and me burnin' in the summertime
You and me burnin' in the summertime
Last night I dreamt I kissed Neil Young
If I was a boy I guess it would be fun
You and me burnin' in the summertime
You and me burnin' in the summertime
Don't you know silly where the horses grow?
Green moss hangin', chillin' crows
You and me burnin' in the summertime
You and me burnin' in the summertime
I said it before and I'll say it again
I'm so happy we're just friends

NOTES:
- The history of this song is a little crossed,
but the basic consensus is that it features
Kim jamming on a guitar riff w/ Steve playing
along, while Thurston was trying to turn on
an amplifier and Lee was in the control booth
capturing it all.
- Never performed live, but another version
(which starts w/ a riff strikingly similar
to Free Kitten's "John Stark's Blues") was
recorded at a Mark Goodier session in 1992.
The session is worth tracking down, it also
features an excellent Steve Shelley propelled
Burning Spear and of course the brilliant acoustic
Purr.
