FENDER GEAR ZINE

When Fender released signature model Jazzmasters for Lee and Thurston in 2009, they came with a mini zine packed with fascinating info courtesy of SY's techs. Aaron Mullan, the band's soundman/engineer, interviewed the key 4 guitar/drum technicians that the band have worked with: Nic Close (1990-2009), Jim Vincent (1992-1998, 2007), Eric Baecht (1998-2011), and Matt Zivich (2009-2011). I've met all these guys over the years and they've always been extraordinarily kind and helpful, and total pros at what they do. As you can imagine, being a tech for Sonic Youth can be a complicated task! Many cool gear/tuning notes are replicated, and each tech discusses a different aspect of the band's approach towards gear along with details on how to modify your newly purchased Jazzmaster/blaster to make it SONIC.
