I cry pretty easy, I always have. I can make myself cry pretty easy too, without even having to think of anything sad specifically. I can just purposely bring my mood down, push my blood to my face, and not long after I am truly sobbing my eyes out.

I just got told that my grandad passed away about an hour ago. At least he's not suffering anymore.

I'm so sorry to hear that. And while it may not matter to you, I appreciate a person who can find a glimmer of a positive side to a horrible situation. Some people will get offended when you say something like "at least they are not suffering anymore," but the fact is is that is truly a good thing. When my dad died, because he had been in bed half-conscious for a couple months with debilitating cancer, some people said, "at least it wasn't sudden," and I truly was grateful for that. Because while some situations seems completely awful from any perspective, there is always something about it that could have been worse, and because that one little aspect wasn't as bad as it could have been, you can be grateful.

oh, fuck, stu--so sorry. after what you told us before, ending the pain must come as a huge relief, so this is probably for the best, considering all. but no matter how you slice it, it sucks to lose the people we love, so, i wish you and your family strength and endurance and understanding to make it safely through this crap time. be well brother.

He was 94, after being in the air force in WWII he ran a village post office and did that until he retired.

Genteel Death 12.31.2012 08:11 AM

Sorry to hear that stu.

Nefeli 12.31.2012 08:15 AM

I am really sorry for your loss, Stu.
the important thing is that she knew you loved her.
i relate. times that i have really cried, were for my grandmother.

i realized that this kind of loss, of the grandmother, is unique. it is the loss of pure love.

condolences, stu.

it sounds as if he led an amazing life, however.
