Thurston radio interview May 1995

Hi everyone - was going thru some old tapes and found this interview Thurston did w/ 107.7 Seattle radio circa May '95 (I assume right around the time they opened for R.E.M.). They talk a bit about Psychic Hearts, the upcoming Lollapalooza tour, etc.

Enjoy...haven't heard this in 15 years. Listening now I realize I totally stole Thurston's laugh growing up. Oh well.

"I like Hole"...man, not likely to ever hear Thurston say that again. Funny listening to these old interviews, and thinking how much shit has changed since then.

Fun stuff.

Thanx a lot, it was very enjoyable!!! I havenīt listened many interviews by Sonic Youth, so it was very nice to hear this! By the way, is Elegy for all the dead rock stars in original Geffen vinyl? I have wondered it because I have only re-release. If it is, is the all material on one vinyl?

Chris Lawrence 12.09.2010 06:11 AM

It was always a double-vinyl, the original release had "Elegy" on side 3, and a Rita Ackermann etching on side 4. Really cool, check it out...

That said, the tracks collected on side 4 of the reissue are essential...

(I just noticed that there's no scan of the vinyl on there, and I own them both! huh...well you can see the etching here)

Thanx for the information! That etching looks really nice!!!

I have seen some original vinyl version in the album happening of my hometown and there was green vinyl. I didnīt look it closely because I knew I wasnīt buying it, but it seemed there was only one vinyl. Maybe Iīm wrong. Do you know anything about that version with green vinyl/vinyls? (How stupid I was when I didnīt buy Psychic hearts at first place, well thatīs almost same story as Made In USA...lack of money).

stu666 12.09.2010 06:48 AM

you can still pick up the original issue of psychic hearts fairly easily, it's 2x vinyl one is green the other black one has the etching on one side.

Well...I have the re-issue. There are so many vinyls that I havenīt got any versions at all so that original is not at first in my list. Maybe someday in the future...Of course it would be then more expensive.
