NOTES:

  • Taken from the 09/18/81 Music for Millions gig, this is an early version of 'The Good and the Bad', with a slightly different arrangment and approach to the riffs, particularly Thurston's opening bass riffs and the way the guitars attack. Also unlike the final studio version, this version actually contains vocals, by Lee, who does spoken word during the 2-note breakdown (also unlike the 'SONIC YOUTH' version, the song ends after that section and does not return to the funkier intro riff). A cool look at an early song, but even more importantly...
  • THIS PERFORMANCE OF THE SONG WAS USED AS THE OPENING MOVEMENT OF THE "SONIC DEATH" LIVE COLLAGE! It hit me immediately upon first listen, that wave of recognition from hearing those notes fade in a thousand times before (I have a fondness for the Sonic Death record...). Portions of 'Burning Spear' and 'She is Not Alone' (also featured in a much earlier arrangement) from this show also appear on 'Sonic Death'.
