Lyrics   status: confirmed

I'm a cool hunter making you my way
Like a brand name you'll replay

I will know you, I won't show you yeah yeah

You're the one
You're the one
You're the one
You're the one

Heat seeking missile freak
Black magic scared to speak

I will know you, I will show you yeah yeah

Will you buy me a shakey heart
Lust brigade has torn me apart

I will know you, I will show you yeah yeah

You're the one
You're the one
You're the one
You're the one

Can you send me yesterday's girl
Cuz everyday I feel more like her
Hey baby baby please don't go
Pattern recognition is kind of slow

Like a cool hunter watch the disarray
Keep yr secret footage heart away

I will know you, I will show you yeah yeah

Close yr eyes and feel the fun
Pattern recognition is on the run

I will know you, I won't show you yeah yeah yeah

You're the one
You're the one
You're the one
You're the one

NOTES:

  • Working title: "It's the Mayhem!"
  • Thurston originally sang this song, which had a chorus of "It's the mayhem! It's the mayhem!" (where Kim sings "You're the one!", I think). People thought it sounded like "Instant Mayhem", Don Fleming's label, and Kim ended up delivering her own interpretation of the song (which is amazing!).
  • Kim's version is based on William Gibson's novel "Pattern Recognition".
  • A slightly (!) abbreviated version of this song was performed on the Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn in 2004.
  • One of several Nurse tunes featuring Kim on slide guitar.
  • The only Nurse song (other than a couple of quartet versions of 'Stones') to make it into the post-Jim sets.
