NOTES:

  • Amongst Thurston's mid 80s lyric journals is a list of amp settings bearing the title "Slowly Kim". Possibly this was a working title for another song, or simply an unfinished idea. The first settings read:

Bass setting @ end of song:
    everything full except volume

Under this is a list of Kim's guitar settings, w/ the note "Blue GTR" jotted next to it -- most likely the ubiquitous blue Jazzmaster copy played by everybody in the band during the early to mid 80s.

The title "Slowly Kim" might indicate that the song had vocals by Kim, or that it was her idea. The fact that she played guitar on it enforces that notion. Kim did play guitar on a few songs back then, but none seem to have likely evolved from "Slowly Kim". Curiously, there's a giant X scrawled over the entire sheet of settings, which perhaps suggests it was altogether abandoned early on. Also interesting is the word "FIRE" written at the top of the page -- if the notes didn't indicate that Kim played guitar, I'd almost suggest that "Slowly Kim" was "Ghost Bitch" ("crouch down before the fire's light", as well as the vocals being delivered slowly by kim) -- however, Kim plays bass on Ghost Bitch so this seems very unlikely.
