NOTES:

  • While recording Shaking Hell for Confusion is Sex, the band accidentally lost what they deemed to be their favorite take. After trying to rerecord the song from scratch, they decided that the original was still best, but it had to be taken from an ordinary cassette mixdown.
  • Sonic Youth's first show of 2006 (and their first without Jim as a member) contained a pretty big surprise in the set list, the first performance of 'Shaking Hell' in 20 years (since 05/20/86, approximately). The song became a staple of the 'Rather Ripped' tour and was performed and most shows that year. After Mark joined, this song remained the only song in the set that he did not play on.
  • "Dig This!" contains a sample of a live performance of this song from the Speed Trials festival, May 4th 1983.
