Sonic Youth performed next. Mats Gustafsson joined for "Lightnin".
Following SY was a group improv with Sven Åke Johansson on percussion and Mats Gustafsson on saxophone, who were joined by Loren Mazzacane Connors on guitar, then Jim O'Rourke on laptop and Steve Shelley on drums. Amongst this wall of sound, Kim Gordon gave Thurston Moore a haircut, while Lee Ranaldo pranced around in an overcoat and sunglasses while playing a cardboard cutout of a cello. No, I am not making this up.
