| NURSING RATING, ARTISTIC RATING The Center for Nursing Advocacy Gives 'Sonic Nurse' three out of four stars for both Nursing and Artistry. Sonic Youth will be playing a week of shows in New York and New England this April. Stops will be made in three of the five boros, plus a special trip to Hoboken. An interview with Thurston appears on the Sonic Youth are the inagural curators of the jukebox at the Helsink bar/club space in Zurich. The Curated Juke Box will change its musical content every two months. The next curator is the Alan Lomax Archive. The club is located at Geroldstrasse 35 in Zurich. The New York Foundation for the Arts website has an article on noise guitar featuring SY, Magic Markers, Wolf Eyes, and more. The Magic Markers site has a bunch of tour pix, including some gems. Kim has a collaborative piece with Jutta Koether in the current show at White Columns in New York. The exhibition is called Trade and considers the phenomena of artists swapping - or trading - art works with one another. Also among the artists included in this show are Richard Kern & Rita Ackermann. More info here. be performing on Friday February 25th at Uncle Joe's Bar in Jersey City. Thurston has a new book of poems, entitled 'Nice War', available from ecstaticpeace.com Lee has a new CD on the DSA label called 'Music for Stage and Screen' about which he says: 'Most of the material on this CD is based around recording sessions which included myself, Alan Licht and Christian Marclay. Later on some material was added from sessions with William Hooker and Gunter Muller. I am indebted to all of them for their help with this project. Most of what the final tracks came less from real-time playing but rather more from constructions created in the studio utilizing the various recorded material. During the progress of creating these cues some of these projects overlapped and certain cues were utilized in more than one setting; thematic material shows up in different variants as the projects demanded. My thanks to the directors involved for inviting my music into their works.' Music has been constructed for the following projects Demoni – Demons
(theatre) written and directed by Michele Salimbeni. We're still working on the following records for release in 2005: Deluxe Edition of the 'Goo' album, a 2CD/4LP set featuring the original LP remastered, 8 track demos, and outtakes, plus a 24 page booklet packed with photos and essays. Reissue of the eponymous 'Sonic Youth' EP with never-before-heard bonus tracks. SYR 6 (or 7). Also in the works, with hope of a 2005 release, is the DVD of Dave Markey's '1991: The Year Punk Broke'; the film documenting Sonic Youth's 1991 European festival tour with Nirvana. Markey has been screening outtakes from the movie as a 40 minute film entitled '(This is Known as) The Blues Scale' which consists of more live footage, backstage hijinks, and pungent commentary. Clips are available to be viewed here. Lee will be performing this month with Text of Light in New York and Europe. At Tonic the Group will consist of Lee Ranaldo, Alan Licht, Ulrich Krieger & Tim Barnes. For the European shows, DJ Olive will join the group. January
