J O’R bio fr Merce program 1998 Jim O'Rourke was born in Chicago in early 1969. Depending on what hour of the day, he improvises (and has with some folks, like Henry Kaiser, Mats Gustafason, Gunter Muller, Voice Crack, Eddie Prevost, Derek Bailey, etc.), remixes other people's music (Tortoise, Microstoria, Smog, etc.), records other people's music (US Maple, Palace, etc.), produces people's records (Faust, Smog, etc.), plays in some groups (Gastr del Sol, Red Crayola, etc.), works closely with others (John Fahey, Tony Conrad, etc.), makes soundtracks (Picture of Light, etc.) and makes some music of his own. The latter half of '97 will include working with the Flying Saucer Attack, Loren Mazzacane, Arnold Dreyblatt, Phil Niblock, some new music of his own as well as all of the above.
