Yeah, I'm not sure how or why, but QOS really did not do a damn thing for me. I can't even remember what it was about. I'm still dying to see Skyfall, but having forgotten half the of the story so far. I remember some explosions, some extreme walking, a machine gun, the word revenge, and some sand, plus a marketing campaign that probably raised my expectations too high. I loved Casino Royale because it was shockingly dark for Bond, and my expectations were low going in. I had completely given up on Bond and Casino was like a Chris Nolan reboot. Quantum was no Dark knight though. |

Tell me, folks who saw Skyfall: will I need to remember Quantum to "get" Skyfall? Should I rewatch it with an open and sober mind, or should I just go and enjoy some explosions again?

It's that very darkness that I really don't like about the Daniel Craig movies. Not saying they should revert back to the all out comedy of the Roger Moore era but I do think they've lost quite a lot of their sense of fun in the last couple of movies. |

I only really liked Cronenberg when he was making his low budget horror movies. I haven't seen a lot of his more recent stuff but if you're saying Cosmopolis is an improvement on those, I'll definitely steer clear. |

as a result of this thread i was trying to remember if i ever saw casino royale and i went to my netflix account and saw i had given it 2 stars (out of 5). all i recall is a lot of running and ultraviolence. explosions. bla bla. so i don't expect much from the sequels. Quote:
i love that woman. gotta go catch that (if they are showing it at all in my craptastic town) Quote:

I'm pretty sure it was released this year. I know for sure that it wasn't shown in the states until August (just a few months ago). I managed to find a place here.

It's based on the novel of the same name. I recommend it but I'm not sure if it would be your thing. |

I've always had problems with Don De Lillo's dialogue but on the written page it feels more acceptable than when it's actually spoken in a film. Robert Pattinson especially is just not good enough an actor to pull it off. For a billionaire wizzkid genius he seems nothing more than baffled by the things he's saying (and I refuse to buy into any 'but that's intentional' arguments). Things only improve (slightly) towards the end, when Paul Giamatti turns up. Otherwise, and I usually hate this term, it all comes across as being a bit pseudo intellectual.

The Master
Honestly I thought it was brilliant. Both Phoenix and Hoffman were just incredible and deserve every award they can get. Two scenes stand out for me. The 'interrogation' scene where Phoenix is told not to blink and also the prison scene. For the both of them I could feel myself getting more and more drawn into the film.

![]() The Colour of Money Absolutely love this. I'm wondering if it might be Scorsese's most underrated film. |
