Great album so far. Really haven't been able to get enough Broadcast over the years.

I wish there was more of it. Listened to it for first time today and it seemed to go by in about half a minute. So good though

Only got into this band recently. I saw their album Noise Made by People in a secondhand record store and saw it was on Warp (who I've recently been obsessed with), which compelled me to buy it. Whilst I wasn't exactly blown away by it at first, it grows on me more and more with each listen. Is there another of their albums I should check out urgently?

all of them are great but there aren't many

the one you named plus:

ha ha sound

tender buttons

...investigate witch cults etc

berberian sound studio which started this thread is actually a horror movie soundtrack and i wanna see it

there's also some EPs

i've lined up all i could get my hands on and it was 180+ tracks total i think. i haven't done the librarian work of matching etc but that's what it adds up to on the server.

there's nothing of them that i've heard that has made me say "oh this is some shit i must skip". honest. dig deep with confidence.

That was a big album for me back when it came out.

Thanks for your responses lads. After some research on http://www.allmusic.com I think I'm going to check out Haha Sound next.

Also, feeling inspired to buy a Stereolab album now as well, a band I've only really heard a few songs by and had previously dismissed as 'ok but not really my thing.' Thoughts?

Crazy. We're having a very similar experience. Heard Broadcast only recently, checked out Noise first. Sounds a little like Stereolab, which, as you put it, isn't really my thing. (The mix of swinging-60s retro with contemporary electronic elements doesn't do it for me.)

The good songs on Noise are incredibly moving, and the wanky tracks are at least "interesting". In a month or so, after further investigation, I think I'll be able to put together a Broadcast compilation which I'll absolutely love.

YES! Do it.

Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements
Emperor Tomato Ketchup
Switched On
Mars Audiac Quintet

Start with the first two listed. If you're not into it them, move on. If you like those two, get the other two next. Great band.

perhaps less canonical and def. less typical, but i love the sweet thick sound of jim o'rourke-produced COBRA AND PHASES etc. etc.

My local college radio station played this earlier......any Broadcast / Stereolab fan will LOVE this!

Cat Hoch - Look What You Found

......you're welcome!

And for anyone just discovering Stereolab, this little boxset isn't a bad way to start.

See if you can find some live footage of Broadcast, they were surprisingly different and brilliant live

Hehe, strange coincidence! I don't think I would've bought the Broadcast album if it weren't for the fact Warp put it out which intrigued me, but boy am I glad I did!

Thanks for the Stereolab suggestions folks, will get on that in due course.

Also thanks for live Broadcast recommendation, was thinking to try and track down some footage!
