That is how I feel about it. I used to carry a knife (hey LA can be a dangerous place sometimes) but then I realized, fuck it, the battle is spiritual. You have to have your Zen and Chi centered, balanced, you have to acquiesce to certain forces of reality. Yeah, guns come in handy sometimes, but they do not also have all of the intended results, whereas fists and kicks tend to do the job. Further, like in All Quiet on the Western Front when Paul kills the French printer Gerard Duval, when we fight in hand to hand combat, we realize the depth, gravity, and consequences of violence. When we are living in the trenches, we tend to forget romanticism and opt instead for realism.

paul actually made the case that obama was simply continuing what bush had started, so he took no partisan stance in the matter. if anything, he reminded me of the old "we will close guantanamo" obama.

what he said also about signature strikes was quite terrifying. i had no idea it was done that way.

I'm gonna have to check that out...I think we have to accept Obama is morally as bad as Bush. When they stat running drone assassinations here - and it will probably be privatized as well - they will be able to target you from your cellphone data, or the nanotech markers that are certainly already in use in some manner.

Bradley Manning is but one victim of the Obama regime. The Obama administration has prosecuted more whistle blowers than any other president. Bush claimed the right to capture and torture but he didn’t claim the right to kill at will like his predecessor. Even Dick Cheney didn’t have a Tuesday kill list meeting.
Manning was held for nearly three years without being charged, and in solitary confinement. He was forced to sleep without clothing or blankets, and was denied visits, even from members of Congress. This treatment has always been considered torture and the fact that it was meted out by Obama shouldn’t change the definition.
