I found Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, Joy Division, the Cure and Siouxsie And the Banshees in the age of fourteen. There were two other people in my home village who like them also (they were older than I), but all my schoolmates didn´t understand me at all. Sy came few years later. It´s very great you´ve found them!

Don´t be sad you´ve never seen them. I am almost forty and I haven´t also seen them (they were in Finland last time 2003, I really feel sad because I didn´t go to see them).

What's important is to look at everything you take in for what it is and to develop an awareness of what it does for you. Not only was I in a similar situation, but I still feel like I am for the most part. Its always been like that here... it's pretty easy to acknowledge that the majority sort of let TV and media choose what they think and enjoy. I'm not sure that I'd say they're horrible people or anything, but it brings me down a bit. It's hard to have a conversation these days without the entire thing feeling artificial and contrived. Again, I sometimes find that this happens to people with potential as well.

Your connection with others should go beyond music tastes as well. No disrespect to Dr Chocolate, but acting out as if it's a competition will literally make things worse. Just give everything a chance and if you like it then be honest about it, even if you don't know why it has such an effect on you. I often think about a world with endless curiosity for what's out there and open-mindedness. Not very realistic though. I don't believe I'm really intelligent or anything, but perpetually challenging myself and my ideas is sort of what makes life worth living to me. I think of myself as someone who merely admires exploring and scrutinizing what's around me. If you find it difficult to develop friendship with your peers, then try at least (I feel it's crucial) to be content by yourself. Moments by yourself and being able to find comfort in them is vital.

People are so mean... Last Thursday, in the bus, I was listening to Pj Harvey and a mean popular guy stole my Ipod. Even though he gave it back to me at the end of the day I was still mad because he said that my music was gay (I only have 357 songs on my Ipod and they're all from Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Yo la tengo, Pj Harvey, The Velvet Underground, Pavement, Pixies, Beck and Joy Division) People at my school are really retarded and they talk behind my back.
