so on my way back i was thinking and i thought after the thoughts that i had, that if i sit down and think for few moments, i will figure out why it is that the view of old men makes me more sad than the view of old women. i mean, the view of old women makes me feel things, but the view of old men always makes me sad. actually it all started because i saw an old man with small feet. old men with small feel always makes me sad*.

I was all set to pull another 12+ hour shift on the 4th floor tonight. I was going to enjoy listening to the Genetic Memory stream and finish watching Season 5 of Breaking Bad online.

However, word just in from my wife is that my father-in-law is being moved to TIRR Rehabilitation in Houston as I type.

TIRR Rehabilitation is where Congresswoman Gabby Giffords received rehab after being shot in the head. TIRR is one of the best rehab facilities in the world!

Anyway, I believe one of our older daughters may be accompanying my father-in-law in the ambulance drive over, so I / we may have a late night drive over to bring her back?

Anyway - this is GREAT NEWS and I do appreciate the kind words of encouragement some of you have shown to me and my family in this thread / via Private Message over the past six months.

Headed over to H-town later this morning to pick up our daughter. She and my mother-in-law followed the ambulance over yesterday. From what she has told us, TIRR doesn't mess around.

Because of my father-in-laws unusual situation of being hospitalized for the past six months and always having a family member with him, TIRR is going to allow someone to stay with him at night for the next couple of days until he feels a little more comfortable with his new surroundings.

However, they made it VERY clear that whoever is staying needs to be fully dressed and bed linens completely removed from sight by 7:00 AM each morning. That person must then leave the room as a team of therapists prepares the patient for the days activities.

The person who stayed the night / visitors are then allowed back in the room during visiting hours between 9am - 9pm. Not that the patient will be in the room, but you can request a visit and someone will escort you the visitor to a place where they can watch the patient in therapy (but I don't think the patient can see you). If the patient is schedule for a break, the visitor / family member may go visit with him during the break.

Anyway, it's all new to us and him and were looking forward to the possibilities such therapy may offer.

THE BEST PART - before making my way to TIRR this morning, I plan to be at Vinal Edge when they open at 10:00 AM

Vinal Edge is the best record store in Houston. The owner Chuck Roast, who had a radio show called the Fun House Show on KTRU, is a great guy and always has tons and tons of records to pick through.

^^^ The new Vinal Edge is awesome and so clean! In the back of the store is a table with five or so crates full of RSD releases. Most of them were just under $20. A few around $14 and wayyyyyyy too many between $25-$30.

The Jandek box was $60 something.

i ll be off next week on an island and i should be thrilled about it, but i m not so much. it all started because i thought as a solution to try and find a job for the season and i talked with someone who lives there and she suggested i visited there on easter. i m not so optimistic about finding a job there now, but i will go and hopefully smth will happen and i wont just end up spending money by going there, which is the reason i m stressed out by this trip.
i m in a not very nice place lately and the thought about being away from everyone for awhile, is actually comforting.
