You put your name on it.

I was thinking that the Einsturzende track wasn't by them. I was thinking to myself, "Just because it's German doesn't mean it's Einsturzende".

I can't believe I didn't like the Art Bears when I first heard them. The track on here is fantastic. Likewise Volcano the Bear, who I saw live and thought they were going to be a live-only band.

Excellent - it's nice to have your creation, Пятхъдесят Шест. The folky aspect made me kind of suspect it might have been your tape. I've just resumed listening half way through side two.

I'm keen to know the band identities.

Scanning the cover art now.

It´s interesting that nobody (except of Hip Priest) seems to be able to write
"Einstürzende Neubauten".
For those who don´t have the "Ü" on their keyboards: "Einstuerzende Neubauten"

sorry, i get quite pissed when it comes to this point

If we're being picky then, there was no need for saying 'Except of Hip Priest'. But hey, it's all gravy baby.

I gathered. To be honest, I was just being a dick.

I used to live with an Austrian. He was an utter twat. I've met nice ones though.

You actually have a U key with the two dots above it on your keyboard? Where does one purchase a keyboard like that? I would love to have that......and a lightning bolt key so it would look correct when typing KISS or AC/DC

You can set up your generic American English with most of these things. If you're on Windows, go into the settings for your keyboard, and you can set it up for other languages - I used to live with some Germans and Chinese people who did exactly this. I've never wanted/ needed to do it, but I think there's some kind of Ctrl+Shift+something else thing you can do to get umlauts [sp?].

A wolf whistle, or a 'I'm not here' whistle? Whistles can be incredibly ambiguous y'know? Just ask Ronnie Ronalde.

Some time tonight will be cool, if that's possible. I'm keen to look further into one or to of the artists. t may turn out that I have heard of them and don't recognise them, of course.

The first track is excellent, and I like all of the instrumental-with-dialogue type tracks (very much my kind of thing).

The track with the yodelling and the snippets of John Peel (which one is that? People Like Us? It's towards the end of side one, anyway) is probably my very favourite, although Einstürzende Neubauten runs it close of course.

I'm giving it another listen tonight, and I'll try to post comments on each track as I go.

Yes, I forgot to mention that John Peel snippet. This was from their Peel Session, so that may be him messing around while they cut up away (er). Listening to People Like Us are probably one of my favorite pastimes. Wonderful stuff. I suggest you seek out more of their stuff. I mentioned them in the funny music thread because they can be hilarious at times, such as with this track.

Indeed, I've just done a little research on them (or her, as it turns out) and she sounds absolutely fascinating. There seems to be a fairly substantial discography though - where would you recommend that I start? (actually, the same goes for Einstürzende Neubauten, whom I know reasonably well but don't actually own anything by).

I've most probably related this before, but in Manchester, where the Hacienda nightclub used to stand is a series of inscriptions charting some musical history. At one point it sayssomething like 'Einstürzende Neubauten banned from the Hacienda after taking a pneumatic drill to a concrete pillar as part of their act', which I think is rather splendid.

The mixtape is very cool - thank you.

The only stuff I wasn't too bothered by was Gogol Bordello and the punky band with the (as I saw it) John Lydon-esque vocals. But both of those were OK too.
