One of my best friends works for BP here in GB. Ive not spoken to him since this happened, he might be in hiding organising his family onto the pods that will escape this planet.
Oil is obsolete, im 100% in favour of nuclear power whilst we make solar and wind energy usable. But we cant go on relying on the dead organisms of the last few millennia.

We really shouldn't be using oil anymore because of pollution etc. But also, who knows what will happen in the future? We may have to start using it again and the more oil we leave now the better.

ummm.. playboy I watch and read a ridiculous amount of news and this oil spill is all over the place, even though surprisingly for the scale of the leak, the after affects have not been as visible as they were say in Exxon Valdeez incident.. after all, this is not heavy crude oil, much of it actually evaporates.

I am not arguing that this is not an immense and even horrifying natural disasster, but truthfully it is hardly the level of disaster that this thread and the media have been suggesting.

In Kenya and Ethiopia, poor irrigigation and farming practices, exporting food crops to the Saudis has resulted in well over 10 million people and countless animals living in absolute privation... I just don't see that in the Gulf right now..

The Gulf does have massive oil slicks, maybe if the media was covering this in proportion to the disaster it is you would have seen some. I have and I don't even watch TV.
