All I can say to this is it is majorly fucked up and I hope BP gets what they deserve. I am now fearing that oil is going to flow into our area soon if it catches that current. This is a disaster to the environment.

Can you imagine what will happen if a hurricane hits the Gulf?
the first "estimates" (actually just straight spin) by BP said that what was spilling out was about the equivalent of one Exxon valdez type tanker a week. They gave this bullshit "estimate" without any data, info, research, anything. Then, two weeks ago, the scientists who studied the footage and data said that what is spilling out is the equivakent of one oil tanker A DAY. That is a shitton. That fucker is going on 4 weeks now. the shrimp and oyster beds of the Gulf will be fucked for decades. |

I watch a lot of weather channel i have been keeoing up with it since it started. Disaster. Everything is going to die and yes if there are hurricanes this year in the gulf as there always are every year we are going to have some crazy ass water oil flooding homes and streets. We REALLY don't need another Katrina. I went to New Orleans 4 years afterwards and it is still in shambles (desoite the rich ares). The trip kid of changed my view on the whole catastrophe. The poor will always get fucked in the end.

Dead fish because they can't breathe. Oxygen is gone. Thus: dead zone. -- I think it's funny you assume I am the type of person to forget about something this wrong 10 years down the line. For one thing, I have been following the Texeco-Chevron/Ecuador lawsuit which took place before I was born in the 70s. They're asking for 27 billion dollars in their lawsuit because of how desctructive their oil pits were. These combined oil pits are a fraction of the size of the oil spilling continuously into the gulf. 9 billion of those dollars are compensation of cancer deaths alone. CANCER! A man made disease that isn't supposed to exist in tribal communities (these are the people most affected) So, if you want to assume that I'm just sitting on MSNBC listening to that dyke rachel maddow all day with my bucket of organic strawberries and saying, 'YEAH, FUCK BP. FUCK AMERICA!' go ahead, mother fucker.

Let me guess, they're 'embedded'. News reporters are being required to embedd with the govt. for this domestic event. ++++++++++++++++++++++ The New York Times further reports, "Tensions between the Obama administration and the scientific community over the gulf oil spill are escalating, with prominent oceanographers accusing the government of failing to conduct an adequate scientific analysis of the damage and of allowing BP to obscure the spill’s true scope." "The scientists point out that in the month since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, the government has failed to make public a single test result on water from the deep ocean," the Times observes. "And the scientists say the administration has been too reluctant to demand an accurate analysis of how many gallons of oil are flowing into the sea from the gushing oil well."

the fucking government was abolished in favor of corporate oligarchy the moment the supreme court decreed that all rights belonging to an individual citizen also had to apply to collective corporations.

this is no "accident"
http://oilprice.com/Environment/Oil-...-Oil-Blob.html There is also evidence that BP, Halliburton, and Transocean sank a drill to a depth of 35,000 feet at the Deep Horizon site some six months ago without the required permits from the federal government. WMR has learned from U.S. government sources that the drilling at 35,000 feet caused a major catastrophic event that required the firms' oil rig personnel to quickly pull up the drill and close the drill hole. However, the Deep Horizon re-sank the drill some six months after the unspecified "catastrophe," resulting in another, more destructive chain of events following the explosion that destroyed the rig, killing eleven workers. When the Deep Horizon blew up, WMR has been told it also "blew down," cracking the the sub-seabed pipe that may have been re-drilled to a depth of between 25,000 to 30,000 feet, again, without a government permit. Government sources also report that BP is intent on recovering as much oil as possible from the undersea geyser rather than simply plugging and capping the well, which would then place it off-limits to further drilling. The Corps of Engineers reports that BP is playing a game with Obama, convincing him of the feasibility of "shooting junk" into the subterranean pipe, which would stop up the pipe with a manufactured chemical compound called "MUD." However, WMR has been informed that BP actually intends to shoot cement into the pipe in an attempt to cap the well with the later intention of digging a trench for side drilling from the pipe to recover as much oil as possible. The technology that would be employed by BP is the same technology that was used by Kuwait to conduct slant drilling of Iraq's Rumallah oil field -- an event that helped trigger Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

Trying to give this mass murder a positive spin, BP spokesman John Crabtree said his corporation had dropped more than 560,000 gallons of Corexit on the surface slicks and 28,700 gallons of the chemical at the subsea wellhead, 5,000 feet below sea-level.
Crabtree’s justification for such an insane, criminal act was that their Corexit would drive the oil well below the water’s surface, thus keeping it away from coastal shorelines. So instead of removing the oil, BP decided to make the oil even more toxic, and drive it deep into the ocean where it can never be retrieved, but will kill all marine life in its path. Mandy Joyce, a marine sciences professor at the University of Georgia carefully chose her words about BP’s deplorable dispersants: “Anything that requires oxygen will not be able to survive that water. The food web is going to change. You could stymie the entire production level of the Gulf of Mexico. That’s a very real possibility.” Some of BP’s chemical dispersants contain 2-butoxyethanol, a compound that kills marine and wildlife, exactly the life our clean-up measures should try to save. Corexit, currently being dropped by airplanes, break the crude oil into tiny droplets that sink well below the water’s surface, where they form a giant cloud or plume, making it impossible to gather, as is their obvious intention. And with this poisonous plume creating a dead zone, currently estimated to be about the size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined, hidden at about 3,000 feet of water, no one can place an accurate figure on how much oil has actually rushed into the Gulf.

yeah, actually, i do too. but she's the only media person i could think of who consistantly reports on the oil spill. also, i really do enjoy organic strawberries myself. did you know that you're only supposed to eat 8 regular strawberries a year because of how much pesticide they use on them?? it's worth the price. but a bucket? you're right. that was overkill.
