During a late 2007 trip to the United Kingdom the Sunburned lineup of
Paul Labrecque, John Moloney, Sarah O' Shea, Robert Thomas and Ron
Schneiderman trekked into the studio along with John "Herb Diamante"
Godbert and Michael Flower. "A Grand Tour of Tunisia" is a massive
double LP providing a glimpse into those sessions. "Tunisia" touches
on all of the best facets of the Sunburned oeuvre - dope rhythmic
workouts, freeform bombast and experimental exorcisms with a taste of
character-driven roleplay thrown in for good measure. Yeah - this
record is *that* serious and one of the most significant entries in
the band's entire discography. If you are so intrigued, there is a
sample MP3, "A Spoonful A Day," currently located on the site at
www.threelobed.com/tlr/tlr064.html for you to taste.

"A Grand Tour of Tunisia" will be one *grand* package containing a
massive two and half hours of music - it will be from an edition of
around 850 copies pressed on two glorious slabs of 180g RTI vinyl. It
will be housed in a heavyweight, "old style" gatefold LP sleeve
(similar to the ones that held both Bardo Pond's "Batholith" and GHQ's
"Crystal Healing" LPs) that will be handnumbered in accordance with
the final run size. All copies of this double-LP will be packaged
with the 70+ minute "London Zero" CD (TLR-065) documenting some
Sunburned moments from the United Kingdom this past summer. This is
one physically heavy set - as such the record will cost $28 postpaid
in the US, $33 postpaid to Canada and $40 postpaid to all other non-
US, non-Canadian addresses. We are now accepting pre-orders and
anticipate shipping this record at some point in December/January
(we'll keep you all posted as to how it's coming along - as of this
message all parts are out of our hands and at their respective
manufacturers).

TLR-052 HOWLIN RAIN "WILD LIFE" LP PRE-SALE OPENS--

We are extremely excited to announce the impending vinyl edition of
Howlin Rain's stellar "Wild Life" as the most recent chapter in our
effort to transfer some of our older titles from CD onto vinyl. "Wild
Life" represents a slightly different Howlin Rain lineup that what you
would currently see on stage joining Ethan Miller (guitar, vocals)
is Ben Chasny (guitar), Utrillo Kushner (drums), Ian Gradek (bass) and
Joel Robinow (Wurlitzer electric piano / Nord keyboard). It is almost
like a mini Comets on Fire reunion! The record consists of two side-
long monster jams that are sure to test the limits of your stylus.
First up is an amazingly inspired and completely improvised *heavy*
rock meditation on Sir Paul's "Wild Life." Watch your head for the
Miller/Chasny guitar duel! "Black Sangria" rounds out the album on
the second side with another improvised slice, this one combining
latin jazz, rock and jazz fusion into a heady brew. Play it loud!

This was previously available only in CD form (available directly from
the band at live performances as well as from us here at the label as
a part of the Oscillation III CD series). The release has made the
jump to vinyl and looks shockingly similar to the CD issue (albeit
larger ha!). The vinyl pressing of "Wild Life" is from an edition
of around 1000 copies pressed on 180g RTI vinyl. It is housed in a
heavy, "old style" LP sleeve bearing the same Raeni Miller paintings
that adorned the CD version. This record will cost $19 postpaid in
the US (with regular international shipping rates applying). We are
now accepting pre-orders and anticipate shipping this record at some
point in December/January (we'll keep you all posted as to how it's
coming along - as of this message all parts are out of our hands and
at their respective manufacturers).

*Attention domestic folks interested in picking up both the Howlin
Rain (TLR-052) and Sunburned Hand of the Man (TLR-064) records - if
you would prefer to purchase both records for simultaneous delivery
(and they should be coming out right around the same time anyway),
feel free to knock $3 off the total price. Just order the records
through a straight-up paypal transfer rather than using the PayPal
buttons on the site.

OSCILLATION III - CD SERIES

The final disc to the "Oscillation III" CD series, an installment from
the Magik Markers, was shipped to all then-current subscribers on
September 8. Keep an eye out if you haven't seen your copy quite
yet. We sincerly hope that all of you enjoy your completed OIII
sets! Thanks so much for everyone who's been along for the ride!
It's been a pleasure to have a smooth ride on this most recent
series. We love how the final product came out and hope that you do
too!

If you're interested in this discs and have not yet subscribed, there
are still sets on hand. It's not too late! A purchase now gets you
the full 9 disc set and the bonus disc from the Vanishing Voice in one
jam-packed mailing including the silkscreened series-holding
slipcase. Again, the overall lineup for this series is (in
alphabetical order)-

Bardo Pond / Bark Haze / Tom Carter / GHQ / Howlin' Rain / Magik
Markers
Michael Flower Band (Mick Flower + John Moloney) / Lee Ranaldo / Jack
Rose

As an added bonus subscribers to "Oscillation III" will also receive
(at no additional cost) a new and as-of-yet untitled CD (TLR-055) from
the ever-potent Vanishing Voice.

As with our two previous series, the series discs will not be
available separately from Three Lobed. Subscriptions are be $80
postpaid for subscriptions shipping to US addresses ($86 postpaid for
subscriptions shipping to Canada or Mexico, $92 postpaid for
subscriptions shipping to all other destinations). Three Lobed has a
strict limit of 550 complete subscriptions available.

DISTRIBUTED GOODS
We have limited stashes of three limited CDRs from various friends
this month. They are:

1. Mouthus "Days In The Combine" - Five copies on hand. This is the
band's limited CDR on their Our Mouth label as prepared for their
October European tour. Very limited. I will have these in hand by
the end of the week. These discs are available on a first come, first
served basis and are $9.00 - add $1.50 for domestic First Class Mail
Postage, add $2.00 for USPS First Class International service to
Canada and $3.50 for USPS First Class International postage to all
other locations. This disc will ship postage-free when included with
any vinyl order.

AN ODDBALL OLDER FIND

We recently ran across two (2) copies of our Gown (with Sunburned Hand
Of The Man) "For The Maples" LP (TLR-058) that contained copies of the
limited "Preserved & Shared" bonus CD (TLR-059). These are available
on a first-come, first-served basis for $25 postpaid within the US
(with regular international shipping rates applying). Drop a line if
you're in need.

STILL FRESH VINYL

TLR-049 - Jack Rose "I Do Play Rock And Roll" LP

Three Lobed is super-duper pumped to be working with Jack Rose for our
first ever (but not last!) reissue of one of our older CD titles onto
vinyl. While Jack Rose's compositional skills are and have always
been clear and apparent, observing one of his live performances allows
even the most casual of listeners to be exposed to his works in an
entirely new light. When played for an audience, Rose's compositions
are given time to stretch out and display an improvisational
punctuation. Various live tracks have popped up over the course of
Rose's discography, but "I Do Play Rock And Roll" is his first
complete album of live material.

"I Do Play Rock And Roll"s forty-one minutes are comprised of only
three tracks meticulously selected from Jack's live archives. An epic
workout of "Calais to Dover" (originally appearing on 2005's
"Kensington Blues") recorded in 2006 starts the whole affair with a
bang. The follow-up is documentation from a 2004 appearance on VPRO-FM
in the form of "Cathedral et Chartres." The disc's closer, "Sundogs"
is a real treat. Previously available only as a studio performance on
the seminal Time-Lag/Eclipse "By The Fruits..." triple LP compilation,
it takes on a whole other twenty-two minute grinding, droning life
live.

This was previously available only in CD form (available directly from
Jack at live performances as well as a part of our present Oscillation
III CD series). The release has made the jump to vinyl and looks
shockingly similar to the CD issue (albeit larger). The vinyl
pressing of "I Do Play Rock And Roll" is from an edition of around 950
copies pressed on 180g RTI vinyl. It is housed in a heavy, "old
style" high gloss LP sleeve. This record will cost $19 postpaid in
the US (with regular international shipping rates applying). This one
is basically gone (12 copies remain). If you're interested, I
wouldn't wait much longer.

TLR-060 - Heavy Winged "Alive In My Mouth" LP+CD

Last summer's CD release for Heavy Winged, "Blacc Lust," flew out of
here and really seemed to find a good home with folks. Following up
on that response comes the massive and dense blowout that is "Alive In
My Mouth." Comprised of two of the band's dirtiest and, quite simply,
heaviest tracks, it is music for tearing down physical walls. In a
small departure from some of our recent vinyl titles, there will not
be a bonus CD for pre-ordering the record. Instead, every copy of the
album (regardless of when purchased) will come complete with a CD that
features both of the album tracks in addition to a "bonus" 17 minute
track. Everyone wins! "Alive In My Mouth" will be from an edition of
647 copies pressed on 180g RTI vinyl. The record will be housed
within heavy art sleeves bearing new artwork by Michael Canich and
letterpressed by Dexterity Press (the same folks who we teamed with on
Sarin Smoke's "Smokescreen"). This record will cost $19 postpaid in
the US. Only 6 copies remain on hand before it's out of print!

i can't wait for the new Sunburned 2xLP

both the Sunburned Hand Of the Man and Howlin Rain records mentioned
earlier in this update, there's always something else going on. The
next two records we will have out (after the aforementioned) will be a
LP of new studio material from Jack Rose as well as a Bardo Pond LP
that is the spiritual sibling to "Batholith" from earlier this year.
Both should be coming out within the first half of 2009 . Exciting!
More info on both to follow soon...

--SCARE THREE LOBED ITEM--

Our test pressings have seemed to be something that folks have been
interested in when offered. Straight from the Three Lobed personal
archives comes exactly one (1) copy each of:

TLR-052 - Howlin Rain "Wild Life"
TLR-064 - Sunburned Hand Of The Man "A Grand Tour Of Tunisia"

These are sealed test pressings and represents one of only twenty-five
copies that exist in this form for each of these records. Want a rare
version for your collection? Here's your chance. These records are
available for $25 for the Howlin Rain and $30 for the Sunburned
(postage not included). For shipping options, the buyer can select
USPS media mail ($3.50), USPS priority mail ($6.50) or USPS first
class international shipping ($8.50 to Canada, $13.50 to all other
locations). These are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

--ANY (SEMI-LOCAL) FOLKS INTERESTED ASSISTING WITH THREE LOBED
ASSEMBLY-RELATED ACTIVITIES?--

Every now and then when we have some new releases getting ready to
come out we have a lot of work that needs to be done all at once
(assembly, quality control, numbering, etc.). Operating basically as
a one/two person staff, sometimes things can slow down a bit. If you
live somewhat close to High Point (North Carolina) and would be
interested in maybe pitching in and helping us move some of this stuff
along quicker from time to time, drop us a line. Clearly there's no
obligation or anything else - we'll just add you to a small
distribution email list that will let you know when we have upcoming
projects that could use a few extra hands. If you happen to be
available when the call goes out, awesome. We will make it worth your
while for any assistance you can offer us as far as release assembly
and other tasks go. Sadly, we are not talking about anything like
college credit interning - we simply don't have enough steady work to
provide the sort of regularity that would be required.

Anyway, if you're potentially interested, drop us a line...

--CHEAPER CDS--

Have you always intended to check out the Modern Containment CD series
and, for whatever reason, never gotten around to it? The price on
this complete nine disc set (with slipcase) has been reduced to $60
postpaid within the US ($70 postpaid to all non-US addresses) for all
remaining copies. Modern Containment consists of otherwise
unavailable material from the Sun City Girls, Hush Arbors, Sunburned
Hand of the Man, Wooden Wand, Mouthus, Bardo Pond, Mirror/Dash, Matt
Valentine & Erika Elder with the Bummer Road and Kinski.

Also, any time you purchase any of our vinyl titles you can purchase
certain catalog CD titles at bargain prices. For example, purchase
any LP and add a copy of Bardo Pond's "Cypher Documents I,"
Davenport's "Rabbit's Foot Propeller," Spectre Folk's "Requiem for
Ming Aralia" or GHQ's "Heavy Elements" to your order for just $5.
Feel free to buy all of these titles at this discount pricing - there
is no limit. Similarly, the Turnstone CD is available with any vinyl
purchase for $6. There is no need for additional shipping to be added
to any purchase, domestic or international, for discs added to a vinyl
order under this promotion.

--LIVE SHOWS--

November and December and bringing about various sorts of touring
activity from Jack Rose, Sunburned Hand of the Man, MVEE, Steve Gunn
and Howlin Rain. As always, check back by this list for more dates by
more artists as they become known to us.
