SF, Seattle, and Portland all seem cool as hell. I've never been any farther west than Cleveland......fucked up in Cleveland.

Seattle, Portland, San Francisco then LA. Come visit me again !@#$%!. But, I will miss the Mrs.
Seattle: Pike Place Market, Seattle This open-air shopping haven is a must-see for first time and return visitors alike. Experience Music Project Museum, Seattle A museum offering fun and informational exhibits to inspire musical creativity in even the most tone-deaf music lover. Space Needle, Seattle Climb 520 feet to the observation deck of Seattle's signature building, which is actually 605 feet tall, for spectacular views of the city and its surrounding area. For food and fantastic sights check out SkyCity, the tower's rotating restaurant that makes one complete orbit per hour. Portland: Powell's City of Books, Portland Powells City of Books Over 30 years ago, Walter Powell decided to stock all editions of books, whether they were hardback, paperback, new or used... Portland Art Museum, Portland The Portland Art Museum is the oldest art museum in the Pacific Northwest. Japanese Garden, Portland The Portland Japanese Gardens San Fran: Alcatraz, San Francisco Alcatraz Island, located in the middle of San Francisco bay, is a must-see attraction for any visitor to the area. One of the most infamous prisons... Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Stretching 4,200 feet and towering as high as a 65-story building, this well-known bridge is the gateway to San Francisco. Ferry Building Marketplace, San Francisco A city landmark transformed into a gourmet food emporium and farmers market. Chinatown, San Francisco This electric neighborhood of 100,000 people is not to be missed, and it's not hard to find: listen for the clack of mahjongg tiles and nose out the salty spicy squid. Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco Open seafood markets, street performers, souvenir shops, restaurants and sidewalk vendors are among the many attractions on this popular stretch of wharf. LA: Party with Kegmama! J. Paul Getty Center, Los Angeles Spectacular museum boasts a most impressive collection by such luminaries as Van Gogh, Monet and Cezanne, along with the architectural triumph of its six buildings and gardens. Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Los Angeles Walk in the steps of the Tinseltown's stars: visit the theater's famous forecourt and gaze down at the stars' footprints, handprints and autographs immortalized in cement. Griffith Park, Los Angeles Covering more than 4,107 acres of natural terrain, this is the largest municipal park and urban wilderness area in the United States, which offers numerous family attractions and activities. Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles Over 100,000 works from all over the world are housed at LA's most popular museum, which has one of the largest collections of art in the U.S. Claude Monet's "Water Lilies" and a specially designed pavilion for Japanese art are only a sampling of the treasures inside this comprehensive and far-from-stuffy premier art museum. SO much more to do in LA...

all of the cities mentioned previously are nice....too nice for an expedition of this sort really. if you want to lock into a strangely dirty city to marvel at odd local customs and start the great american novel, anchoragealaska is the perfect choice

if you're gonna be in the Northwest, you might want to take a look around Spokane. "might" is the key word here. it's a fairly nice city; some cool stores, nice downtown, big river right through the middle. maybe on the way back or something.
AVOID IDAHO. IT'S BORING IF YOU DON'T LIKE NATURE.

Dude! I would have gotten you high LAST time, but we got slightly seperated after Magik Markers! (Have you ever told the story of how you played Elisa's guitar by the way?) I smoked the entire day/night at Arthurfest, and snuck in some vodka too. I refuse to pay $8 for nasty beer. That was good times man, good times. But anyway, YES. Definitely, next time for sure! Pinky promise. ![]()

yeah man come to OREGON!
just avoid salem hahpowells is amazing, the art museum is really nice. on the surface portland seems like a glossy hipster paradise but there are soooo many different sides to portland. just about a place for everyone. eugene is nice to, it has the culture but isnt as big as portland. defiantly go west to the coast. lincoln city, pacific city, cape kawanda is my fav. and avoid eastern oregon, unless you are feeling home sick central oregon is very nice, its where all the resorts and such are. sisters is a very small homely town, close to bend which is another great city. you could stay at black butte. if you end up coming to salem, you could see where one flew over the cukoos nest was filmed, but thats about as exicting as it gets here. oh and john fahey's grave.

-- yeah i did post that somewhere & also i met her later & gave her my library card (which i had used as guitar pick), ha ha, as an apology or homage, she is a lovely girl-- loves books too so that had a peculiar symbolism. PINKY PROMISE: i'll just say that when i meet you next time. ha hah!! remember ![]() thurstonito: i think i'll actually go to oregon man! i'll make seattle my base & go from there. likely to go to oregon at least for a few days. i'm thinking of bringing my bicycle along as all this is bike-friendly land-- i think they used to make bikes & biking clothes in eugene... i forget the name somehting with B... but anyway... damn, thanks guys. things are shaping up nicely on this front. |
