you chose to live in california cuz of traffic stats? i thought you were born and raised there!

but anyway yeah i looked at stats looks like low mortality, like 6th or 7th from the bottom.

DC beats everyone else though-- but DC is way walkable. i miss that shithole. though it no longer exists.

yes. and also, as i said, LAWSUITS. the great equalizer. more or less anyway.

when you sue a poor idiot driver who fucked your life, you can't get any money even if you win. and insurance has low legal limits ($50K liability gets you on the road in my state--but a lot of people don't fucking bother. so one is fucked.)

but when you sue a car company... well....

guys I just do not trust robots and whoever programmed them. drunken software developer was a joke. usually they are smart, way too smart...i would not believe them as well. i am being paranoid now but yeah, i do not believe people and robots hahaha.

so. in case of drunken drivers it is the same like with guns. not the cars kill but people do and in case of Smart cars, cars do (?) or anyone who can hack them (?). I am starting to go in circles.

by the way, talking about drunken drivers, no one has mentioned people driving high. there must be so many people driving stoned, hehehe....oh, and what about prozac and stuff like that...

back to the topic. I just do not like and do not trust smart cars.

Agreed. That people trust machines and technology so willingly surprises me. I mean technology isn't divorced from humanity, humans must design, create, program, and maintain technology. So technology CAN NOT automatically eliminate human error because technology is very much a human endeavor. Further, across our history humans have used technology to our detriment far more frequently than we have to our benefit long term.

Studies are inconclusive about cannabis impact on automobile accidents, but you make a great point about pharmaceuticals.

Tesla’s Autopilot back in spotlight as 2nd self-driving crash reported

https://www.rt.com/viral/350157-teslas-autopilot-2nd-crash/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&u tm_campaign=chrome

this is from the article :

Tesla are disputing Scaglione’s claims, telling WXYZ that they received no information to show that Autopilot was activated at the time of the crash.

so does that means that Tesla is monitoring cars online or are they recieving data logs or what? fuck. that would be worst news. smart technology easy to hack.

yeah, but no car chases anymore ;-), whenever car "sees" blue flashing light it will slow down, besides you will be probably fined for being on the phone while "driving" anyway. i think it is horrible. driving should be driving and not boring commuting. I know, I know, that is just my opinion... we can all clearly see which direction everything goes in ten years time (technology wise) like it or not. by the way, I am actually shocked by comments bellow videos of this type. people are actually praising stuff like that with open arms. hmm.

first uber took over taxi drivers with proper taxi license, now it seems uber is taking over taxi drivers itself.

capital is not the friend of labor

as for the driving vs. being driven, a chauffeur is a true luxury. who the fuck wants to deal with the morons on the road? ROBOT, GO GET ME SOME WHISKY. why even drive, just send it to do errands. text it your shopping list and sleep some more.

i mean i why even even even. just tell siri you want whisky and 15 minutes later a drone knocks the door with a bottle in his claw.

i'm sure when the cars came out people were like "but a horse is the real way!"

look, soon we'll all be plugged into the matrix playing immersion porn games all day while we're intravenously fed

progress! but i'll be dead by then so it's someone else's problem

not sure if anyone is following what is going on in India...

The global elites are using negative interest rates and inflation to make your money disappear. The whole idea of the war on cash is to force savers into digital bank accounts so their money can be taken from them in the form of negative interest rates.[OR TRANSACTION FEES]

One way to avoid negative interest rates is to go to physical cash. They can’t impose negative interest rates on cash.

In order to prevent people from using that option, the elites have launched a war on cash, as recent events have borne out. The war on cash is old news, but it is escalating rapidly...

India’s decision to make 1,000- and 500-rupee notes worthless is having devastating ripple effects in the Indian economy and the market for gold.
The consequences of the decision are both appalling and encouraging — appalling because they show governments’ ability to destroy wealth, and encouraging because they show the ingenuity of individuals operating under the thumb of an oppressive government.

One immediate consequence of the cash ban was that paper money began trading at a discount to face value. The entire banking system in India has been running out of cash and alternative forms of payment such as gold and barter have been emerging.

In plain English, you might be able to sell your illegal 1,000-rupee note to a middleman for 750 rupees in smaller denominations. You would get legal tender for your worthless 1,000-rupee note. The middleman presumably has some connection with the banks that allows him to deposit the funds without being harassed by the tax authorities.

i would find it hard to believe americans would go cashless. isn't the fed backed by cash?

driverless cars would do wonders to cut down on the ridiculous number of fatal accidents but as soon as there are deaths people will go apeshit.

we keep moving to a society where you need a 300 dollar smartphone to do anything.

i can't imagine how it'll be when you have to do everything with the computer embedded in your contacts or skin.
