Yeah, doubleneck guitars are probably the most pretentious symbol of prog-rock pompusness, but my band's got a few songs where having a 12-string and a 6-string guitar together would just sound badass.

I've been looking at BC Rich's new Bich Doubleneck (don't laugh, the way the tuners are arranged is very ergonomic), and they say it'll be "affordable", but I can't see spending more than $600 on an instrument I'd use for only 2 songs at this point...

Anybody know of a doubleneck for less than that?

What Super Furry Animals used to do was have the second guitar on a prop so it was just around chest height, meaning they could play it without supporting it with a strap/ body; the first guitar was slung at about waist height. I'd look at that sort of thing before cunting money on something potentially pointless.

Yeah plus you can always strap two guitars to yourself. It looks ridiculous and it's really cumbersome, but it's pretty funny.
