Glad to read these as I'll be a bit behind the eight ball on a time to leave Wormtown MA as both my Dad and Son have doctor appointments this Friday.
I'm not one for speeding so my 3 1/2 hour drive is more likely to be closer to 4 hours in length time than 3 hours.

You will be driving into NYC at Friday rush hour, beware.
Avoid I-95/Cross Bronx Expressway at all costs. It would be best to go for the Tri-Boro/RFK Bridge from Bronx to Queens, expect slowdowns there and on the BQE after you come into Queens. Safe travels to ya!

I plan to leave between 11:00 am and high noon. This will put me in rush hour traffic?

You could also park at a metro north in CT and take the train in, you'll want to double check but it looks like the last train back to New Haven and points between is
1:49 AM 3:57 AM 128 THROUGH TRAIN OFF PEAK

if you say a 3-4 hour drive from MA, then it's put you into the beg. of rush hour traffic. As long as you leave by Noon you should be ok.
