Blood In Blood Out (also known as Bound by Honor) is a 1993 film directed by Taylor Hackford. It follows the intertwining lives of the three Chicano relatives, Miklo (Damian Chapa), Cruzito (Jesse Borrego) and Paco (Benjamin Bratt) from 1972 through to the mid 1980s. They start out as members of the fictional street gang Vatos Locos in East Los Angeles and as dramatic incidents occur, their lives and friendships are forever changed. Blood In Blood Out was filmed throughout the Spanish-speaking areas of Los Angeles and inside San Quentin State Prison.

Bob Rafelson was praised in the early 70ies for two films, Five Easy Pieces and the King of Marvin Gardens, both with Jack Nicholson.
His later films were neglected by the critics (apart from The Black Widow).
Rafelson was tore down to pieces by that guy who wrote about the new Hollywood. Anyway, this guy spat at everyone, apart from Hal Ashby who had had the good taste of dying.
This being said, it's really sad Blood and Wine didn't get the credit it deserved. It's a B-movie, with Nicholson and Michael Caine, both being great, Jennifer Lopez (no miracle), Judy Davis and Stephen Dorff.
The use of violence is eye-widening. In a fight, once a character is about to kill his openent, once he feels safe for himself, you see on his face that he suddenly understand that he is inflicting pain to another human being, and that there's a struggle within himself. Shall I go on and kill, or should I find a way to stop it all without being hurt in return by that guy I'm driving mad.

The Tailor of Panama by John Boorman.

Shattered Glass.

Underrated where?
It all depends on which country you're talking about.
Jim Jarmusch films are very underrated in America.
The same goes for Fuller, who in Europe has always recieved more credit and respect.
Lynch seems to be going the same way.
For some reason or other, arthouse films go down better with the general public on this side of the atlantic ocean.

toko, while some of the other movies you've mentioned are favorites of mine and others i haven't seen, i'm going to say no to these.

garden state and i've said above is a horribly trite movie, composed of cliches and horribly but horribly paced jumping from one stupid cliche scene to another, no, this movie is overrated because it gathers some commonplaces with mass appeal and shapes them into a likeable mess. but a mess.

le grand bleu is an overly long, meandering, chaotic movie that attempts to be poetic while remaining simply death-obsessed.

now if you want to talk about besson's underrated movies, léon (AKA the professional) is to me his best one, in every way, and one that doesn't get mentioned a lot unfortunately because of that space fable known as the fifth element and the success of the maladaptations of la femme nikita for american audiences in tv and film.

léon , absolutely, definately his best work, but i like the stylized look of fifth element as well, it's refreshing to see that kind of color and bent vision in a sci fi movie

Any original Tim Burton film.

"Beetlejuice"

"Edward Sissorhands"

"Nightmare Before Christmas"

"Ed Wood"

All very good films, its sad when movies like his re-make of "Planet of the Apes" (which was atrocious), and "Batman" ( which wasn't so bad) are his most popular films.

are they really? funny you should say that, i believe those you have picked as best (i agree they are) enjoy near-cult status while the others have been quickly forgotten in the dust of time.
