I too am a fan of QT, and like NR I loved Death Proof. I enjoy the dialogue that his characters always get into and he always has the coolest songs. I haven't seen IB yet but I'm certainly looking forward to it.

The one I'm scared of is Machete the hype has been so great and the time it's taken to finally make it I'm afraid it's not going to live up to expectations. I know it's Rodriquez's film not QT but here's as good as any place to bring it up.

the Machete trailers look pretty awesome man. But who knows. I generally think Rodriguez is pretty lousy when left to his own devices.

I think Sin City and El Mariachi and the Spy Kids movies are about a billion times better than any of Tarantino's stuff. But in general, Rodriguez isn't my favorite or anything.

I liked Sin City. I liked Desperado more than El Mariachi. I never saw the Spy Kids movies. I liked Rod's contribution to Four Rooms. Loved From Dusk Till Dawn. Hated Planet Terror. I think RR is mostly an over-rated filmmaker. But to each his own. I don't enjoy his movies nearly as much as QT's.

Also, let's talk Roger Avery cuz we never really do.

Killing Zoe - 8/10
Rules Of Attraction - 10/10
Silent Hill - 5/10
Beowulf - never saw it

Glamorama - wish it came out
Glitteratti - wish it came out

am I missing anything?

I liked it more this time than when I originally saw it, but many scenes could have been cut to soften the running time - and the Mom was very, very annoying. Which is a shame 'cause I appreciated the actress' work on The Drew Carey Show.

^^and the climax in the theater is brilliant.

Bunch of germans eagerly watching a film about americans getting destroyed....in a movie about americans destroying a bunch of germans.

Nice social commentary.

Uh, I guess I'd rate..

no way to rate, but this is pretty neat. I like the Tromadance films, there's always a few really interesting shorts.

HIGHLY reccomend best of tromadance 3 to those who haven't seen... giuseppe!!

someone asked me to reccomend cinemageddon movies to him.. so I made a decent list of some of my favorites.. I made a few specific comments to him though.. ignore those..

- shaye and kiki (strange as hell, watch this!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Spvmv6IP4Io)
- death powder (basically, the film that made me want to make films)
- branded to kill (coolest film ever!)
- every jon jost film
- The Adjuster (like lynch but way better)
- Pastoral: To Die In the Country (did you ever see this? It's in my top 5 films ever..)
- Out of the Blue (in my top 10 films ever. AMAZING rip on cg.. 2 disc.. that has a long ass dennis hopper interview on disc 2.. anyway...I wrote a huge thing about this elsewhere.. anyway, one haunting, genuinely shocking, unbelievably film)
- daisies (the other torrent I REALLY reccomend; http://cinemageddon.org/details.php?id=34910 ... this, yet again, was a HUGE influence on me -- if you don't get anything from the site, get this film; you will definitely think of me, especially currently untitled, when you see this.. hell, just look at the screenshots.. some of the most insane editing ever (including a scene where the girls slice up the film itself with scissors, which is hard to explain but is mindblowing to see; just a jawdropping, insane film that is only like an hour long and you'll probably want to rewatch as soon as it's off!)
- plymptoons (http://cinemageddon.org/details.php?id=81855&hit=1 ... my favorite animated stuff ever..)
- toy porno by the frogs (weird as hell)
- thief (this can probably be found easily elsewhere; great and daring michael mann crime film with a bizarre ambient/drone soundtrack by Tangerine Dream that doesn't fit the film but makes it very dreamy and sleepy) (that reminds me, have you seen To Live and Die in LA? that's my favorite "crime film" of all time... by far, the best car chase ever)
- slow bob in lower dimensions (stop motion insanity short which was shown cut up on liquid television, music by the residents)
- Inflated: The Blow-Up Doll Films of Steve Hall and Cathee Wilkins (not really THAT great but just the ridiculousness of it makes it worth having)
- Kaizokuban bootleg film (moody cool black and white film with great editing and weirdness)
- Carnival in the Night [yami no kanibaru] (brilliant overlooked no budget underground japanese cinema from 1982)
- august in the water (I know you probably have most if not all sogo ishii films but someone recently uploaded everything he's done in HIGH QUALITY editions, and august in the water is my favorite, by far, of any of his films)
- Negativland - No Other Possibility (insanity)
- tokyo landscapes (these are amazing, there are 3 or 4 of them, and it just shows various tokyo buildings and streets and people through the years.. kind of a documentary without narration or context.. surprisingly compelling and fascinating time capsules..)
- pistol opera (by the director of Branded to Kill.. just brilliant)
- Corndog Man (I'm pretty sure you watched this, right? It's the funniest movie I've seen in my life; have seen it nearly 100 times and still nearly cry from laughing so hard)
- Emotion: densetsu no gogo = itsukamita Dracula (I think this is on ubuweb also, it's a Nobuhiko Obayashi film, before he did Hausu.. anyway, great early experimental Japanese film.. just brilliant.. a lot like Toshio Matsumoto and Shuji Terayama)
- registered sex offender (no budget mumblecore-ish mockumentary that is surprisingly entertaining)
- murder a la mod (great, daring early depalma)
- a forest with no name (by the director of Eureka and Eli Eli Rema Sabatchthani.. weird ass detective movie that resembles a Lynch film... dreamlike, surreal, abstract, and only an hour long..)
- streetwise (the greatest documentary of all time, next to american movie.. heartbreaking)
- Water & Power (one of the coolest experimental films ever, the entire film is timelapse footage and weird exposures, so you see "ghosts" of people in places.. just amazing, mindblowing)
- Landscape Suicide (haunting.. I swear by this film..)
- Frownland (holy fuck. Reminds me a lot of a James Fotopolous film in its quiet moodiness.. one depressing flick!)
- Pop Skull (INSANE! The movie equivalent of a robo trip! This film IS about a guy getting fucked up on cough syrup afterall, and as someone who "robotripped" many many times, I can safely say that this perfect emulates the experience. THis movie actually kinda reminds me of something you'd make, Jared, in that it was really well made, and it had a quiet darkness and an experimental edge)
- Terminal USA/Fame Whore/Mod Fuck Explosion (just a big Jon Moritsugu fan..)
- Vibrator (brilliant quiet sad little Japanese road film, felt very very real... lonely and amazing)
- Suicide Bus (made by a Kitano collaborator and felt like a lost Kitano film.. not quite as good as him but you know -- what is?)
- Kodak Lecture Series- Harmony Korine (I'm not even a big Korine fan, aside from Julien, but this 2 1/2 hour long interview is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.. he namedrops tons of great films, like Out of the Blue and Naked.. throws a few thinly veiled insults at Larry Clark.. just fascinating stuff)
- Alex and her arse Truck (I love this sexy british short about a girl with a pacifier in her mouth walking around and getting shot with a squirt gun... features music from giuseppe andrews!)
- Sweet Movie (one of the best films of all time)
- White of the eye (from the director of Performance, which is one of the most insanely edited films ever, comes this insanely edited film that seems like a drama.. seems like a slasher film.. but is just absolutely ridiculous, uncomfortable, awkward, and weird.. hard to explain.. but brilliant.. masterful and weird)
- Suture (another uncomfortable masterpiece, one of the best films ever that NO ONE has ever heard of)
- Gonin (simply my favorite Japanese crime film NOT made by Kitano -- though he's in it; haunting, compelling, daring, and shocking)
- Eden and After (like the best parts of every early Godard film ever put together; weird as hell, and I love it)
- Elevator Movie (another film that feels a lot like a James Fotopolous film; 70 minutes, two actors, one elevator... gets VERY strange, as a girl wears 40 pairs of underwear and has a mechanical vagina.. lobsters, crabs, sound not synching up with the voices.. sloppy and ugly.. one of the most bizarre yet compelling films I've EVER seen, especially give the budget.. highly reccomended)
- Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb (weird as hell stop motion / pixelation movie..)
- First Family of Satanism (2 hour interview with Anton Lavey's daughter and Nicholas Shrek... fascinating as hell)
- Manson (1973 -- the BEST manson documentary ever, and I own them all)
- The Clown Tape (extremely strange movie where a guy recreates the true story of an insane guy dressing like a clown and traveling the u.s., after his girlfriend leaves him... very obscure.. and has a matthew barney connection, in the production and the music..)
- Psychedelic Glue-Sniffin' Hillbillies (doesn't get much stranger -- and more real -- than this)
- Video Diary of Ricardo Lopez (..wait, yes it does. The most disturbing video EVER MADE. UGH)
- TORSO (favorite giallo ever)
- Death Laid an Egg (weird ass giallo that is like Godard meets Argento)
- All the Colors of the Dark (another disturbing, colorful giallo)
- The Way Things Go (30 minute chain reaction video.. something sets on fire... which makes an explosion.. the explosion hits a ball.. the ball rolls into chair.. chairs fall over and launch a rocket.. etc... forever... wow)
- Pin Gods - PBA Bowling Documentary (OKAY, I'm a huge bowling fan, this may be of no interest to you)
- Telephone Book (an Andy Warhol connection... weird ass art film... with animation of a vagina with teeth, and an odd noise soundtrack... one of the weirdest, coolest films ever.. probably the best set design ever)
- Dandy Dust (I've told you about this one... weird futuristic stop motion sped up reversed just.. insane)
- American Dreamer (superrare Dennis Hopper doc.. he does drugs, has orgies, talks a lot.. etc..)
- Salt, Saliva, Sperm and Sweat (weirdass short by the guy who made Body Melt.. kinda reminds me of if me and you collaborated on a project..)
- Heavy Metal Parking Lot (the best short documentary ever! It's exactly what the title says.. maybe the most quotable film ever)
- Rampo Noir (I'm sure you've seen this moody, atmospheric, DARK, experimental anthology)
- Bell From Hell (superweird dark little horror film... features actual cow mutilation.. hot naked women being tortured.. the director killed himself on the final day of shooting.. someone else edited the movie, and it's a weird cluttered mess that makes no sense.. amazing)
- Messiah of Evil (another weird mess of a film with brilliant set designs and lots of paint..)
- Fata Morgana (1965. NOT the Herzog film, this is much better)
- Death Drug (one of the funniest movies ever.. insane... it's an anti PCP movie but it'd probaly be better under the influence of drugs... words can't even explain this mess!)
- Breaking Point (1975. From the director of Thriller: A Cruel Picture.. this one is crueler, and better)
- E.T. Porno (ACK!!!!!!!!!!! You will NOT be able to finish this movie.. disturbing as HELL... E.T. GETTING FUCKED BY GERMAN MEN. HORRIBLE. E.T. looks like a burnt baby! The biggest anti-masterpiece ever made)
- Schramm (you've probably seen this movie by the Nekromantik/Der Todesking guy.. probably my favorite slasher film ever next to Maniac.. I dunno if I'd call it a "slasher" film though.. just an amazing atmosphere, artful direction, wow)
- Black Devil Doll From Hell (yes!)

Hope this list might help you guys looking for cool films, especially rare one on cg..

Haha batman and robin sig.. great movie. I though it was way better than the Nolan films.

THIS IS WHY SUPERMAN WORKS ALONE.

It reminds me of Pat Boone's "In a Metal Mood"...

It's just so wrong that it's right.

Well, a 5 is average... it was average. Something felt off about it..

As a film, there just wasn't much to it.

mm. I first saw it back when I first saw Pulp Fiction (so when? 95 or something?) and then watched Reservoir Dogs, and then Curdled and Killing Zoe and anything that Tarantino seemed somewhat connected to at that time. Maybe it's nostalgia. I don't know.

I think it's a pretty decent bank robbery flick. I like ZOE. I like the AIDS stuff that goes on in the background. Kind of an extra layer if you pick it up. I love the sxx-scene with Nosforatu playing over it. And the Tomandandy music is really great.

Funny, Avery pulls a similar b/w flick in Rules Of Attraction -- and again got Tomandandy to score it. Anywy, I love RULES more than most people. I've seen it easily 30 times, if not more. I can't explain it. it's a comfort movie. I can fall asleep to it. I pretty much know every word of it. I just love it.

That's why I hoped Avery would get to release Glamorama and Glitteratti. Too bad.
