a good example is the spy change of russian and american spys (spies ? )
the russian wanted on paper that they get 2000 $ a month for the rest of their lifes from the russian goverment when returning

it could be a wikileaks thing
that would give more prison time

or he could have a back up plan
where he had prepared attacts on all american prisons from a satellite that launches nuclear rockets
once caught and in prison, he gives the codes to his lawyer who then activate a launch to the prison he is in
then he escapes with the help of some local mexicans who bring him trough drugstunnels to mexico
once there he can fly in a small plain, that was once of pablo escobar, to the amazone forest
an indian tribe who thinks he is a scientist researching animals welcomes him and take them with a cano into the jungle
at nightfall he is invited to eat snake at a campfire as a welcome ritual
