I think I'm going to need a tracklisting here, there's some incredibly obscure stuff on this tape. I've recognised Elvis Costello, Michael Gira and what I suspect is Pussy Galore. There's a bit of jazz in there, some afrobeat-ish sort of stuff, and a fair smattering of post-punk. It's rather like listening to an edition of the John Peel show, just without the man himself, and for this reason I suspect that either Hip Priest or Glice may be the evil genius behind it. Come on out whoever you are, show your face.

It's very nice. Here's what happened:

On the first listen, I didn't refer to the tracklisting. Somehow, on the second listen (when I was writing my comments), I must have missed a vital bit. A telephone call, I think. I won't bore you with the details. Anyway, on the tracklisting you have Royal Trux listed as before Velvet Underground, when in fact they are after Velvet Underground. So my comments on Royal Trux in the review were actually on No Neck Blues Band! Bear in mind, I'd never heard either band before, so I was ignorant of the distinction.

On listening again today, I realised that there was what appeared to be an extra track before Velvet Underground. I confirmed by checking a sample of NNBB's Doon online. Gosh.

Latvian folk tales are great, and impressed you were able to figure that out with only two clues to go by.

Sonicl, comrade, the tape you have is mine. I hope 'evil genius' compliment is a good thing. You were dead one with Elvis Costello, Micheal Gira (Angels of Light), and Pussy Galore. It seems as though you haven't listened to Side B yet, so I'll wait until then to reveal the juicy details.

"Its rather like listening to an edition of the John Peel show, just without the man himself" Why, thank you!

I've just realised that you missed a track in your review. I was particularly pleased with that one. Go back, re-listen, and review, please!

I knew I'd missed one, I had to think about it.

I keep finding myself humming several songs from your tape. All the ones I'd not heard before.

Going back to Loop, if you saw PWEI live just around the release of Box Frenzy, there's a possibility that you may have seen Loop then, as they supported them on tour at that time. That was when I first saw them. I fell asleep during PWEI's set and when I awoke found that I was leaning against Robert Hampson.

I didn't see PWEI until the second album. I'm pretty sure I only saw Loop the one time, I wish I'd paid more attention now.

I think I'm going to wait until I get back to work on Monday before having a proper listen to Side Two of your tape. I don't get many uninterrupted periods at home. Then I'll continue my really lengthy, and possibly tedious to most, review.

Hip P, sorry about the track confusion. If this mislabeling occured on a real LP release, you'd have a collector's item on your hands!

There's only ever been one copy of 'Wake the Dead' ever made, and it has a mislabelling. That makes it double valuable.

I was hoping my tape would have arrived today. Oh well.

More waiting. Waiting on top of the waiting for sonicl to review my tape more completely, if he plans to do so. I've got nothing but time...

I think Monday or Tuesday might be more realistic for the USA. I'm sure people over here are digesting their tapes properly before committing to comments. From what sonicl has said, yours sounds good/interesting. I look forward to his review.
