where did this reference come from? i have heard it referred to in films and TV shows as a lovers suicide spot, but if you google search it you get nothing!

does anyone know the story behind it? Is it from some American show from the 50's that i never saw???

I've never heard of 'Lover's Lake'. I have however, heard of 'Lover's Lane'. Could you be getting confused with that, or am I missing something in your original post?
