Yeah, that's something I never got especially when you start dating someone and all they do is talk about their own country like it's the best thing ever, like you will have to marry the entire country they're from. You can't even imagine how that sort thing makes me want to go to sleep, but you have to keep a polite facade and show that you are interested. 99% of the times it happens when someone has almost nothing to say about themselves. I have to say that I am partial to the Chinese and Japanese 'cause I ask all the questions and show genuine interest.

most of the time I speak about "my" country is negative or joking about it. but as a german...what else can you do?
