interestingly enough, when I first entered black studies program at the university I anticipated running into a militant black nationalist activist who would check me for being a white dread and say some things like "white people can't be dreads, white people can't be bout africa etc etc.."

I always thought it was interesting that mainstream america expects black people to be down with all this Americana bullshit, but if white america accepts Africana suddenly its a racial thing? If black people can be into white nationalism and support white politicians, why can't white people support black nationalism?

no that was me. such's friend's are mostly conservative. I'm conservative too but I enjoy hanging out with people that have beavers dreads. beavers.

yes.. coincidently a friend of mine used to call it that, though aside from him and you I had never heard such a reference.. I used to call em my bum locks.. but the official term in the Rastafari glossary is "Congo dread"
