I was gong to put this on the folk thread but wasn't sure if Richard Thompson really was a folk guitarist anyway. Anyway, been listening to his stuff loads of late. I've got all his stuff with Fairport Convention and some of the ones he did with his wife, I Want to See the Bright Lights; Hokey Pokey and Shoot Out the Lights.

Just wondered if anyone had any opinions on him or could recommend any other albums of his.

There a 3-disc comp called Watching the Dark. Pretty good.
I like you?me?us? as far as his recent stuff goes.

Problem with RT is he's not really consistant. Each album has a few masterpieces and a lot of dross.

But any live RT is a very safe bet. His shows (either solo or with a band) always consist of his best songs and a few surprises. Search around for some online and you'll be pleased with the results.

Ah thanks. Good to know, especially about the live stuff. He does seem to have released a helluva lot of stuff.
