I should have mentioned this:

I called awhile ago, so things might have changed, but:

It rings a bunch of times, like 6 or 7. A pre-recorded message comes on asking you not to mention brand names, profanity, etc. and to turn down your radio in the background.

No producer. You wait and listen to the show (on a slight delay), you hear a pause, then you're up.

the delay is so that the host can cut you off if he detects trolling or spamming or hears something like a "fuck you" (which can bring fcc fines). you need to lead him on without him noticing.

Okay, so that was pretty lame. (And I was sure I copy and pasted the # from the website, so I don't know what's up with that.) The host was particularly boring last night, and anyway I had already done a poor job organizing things. I really do feel awful if I wasted anyone's evening.

But I still think it was a good enough concept, and if anyone has any suggestions for a better show to ransack, by all means let's do A Prank, SYG Style II.

I sort of recorded it. I have a cheap mp3 player-thingie that can record radio. The reception was fine, but when I listened back to the recording it sounded like utter shit, as if I was driving through a tunnel or something. I don't know why that happened and I'm pretty pissed.

To be honest, I was caught completely off guard. Not only did I not speak with a call screner, but I was on hold maybe 30 seconds before going directly to air. I really didn't have an opportunity to "listen" to somehow chime in. I did hear him mention how colleges are whoring out our children and tried to go with that.

Before calling, I jotted down some song / album titles to try and work in. It didn't go anything like I planned......but oh well, it was fun

If a call creener would have answered asking me for my name and city, I was going to be Thurston from Kent.

If you're bored and have access to free phone calls, I would love for people to call the restaurant underneath my apt to demand they stop playing their loud music that harasses the residents and makes them sick. They need to take the speakers out of the walls and move them. Now they are in the ceiling against my floor. These people are real fucking phoney vegan assholes. Evening is the best time and you don't need to even listen to what they say, just tell them the music is too loud. Feel free to twit this or whatever, I'd love for them to get 100's of calls. They won't do anything until the State forces them, they have no honor or decency.
