House 218-208 (9 non-voters)
290 needed to override Presidential veto (assuming all 435 reps vote)

Senate 51-46 (3 non-voters)
67 needed to override Presidential veto (assuming all 100 senators vote)

The 218-208 House vote Wednesday night, largely along party lines, was well short of the 290 yeas needed to trump Bush. Two Republicans voted for the bill, while 13 Democrats voted it down.

Thursday's vote was 51-46. Republican Sens. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska and Gordon Smith of Oregon joined Democrats in supporting the bill. Connecticut independent Joe Lieberman, who caucuses with the Democrats, voted with Republicans opposing it.
Two supporters of Bush's Iraq policy -- Republican Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina -- did not vote. Sen. Tim Johnson, D-South Dakota, who is recovering from a brain hemorrhage, also didn't vote.

Even tho W will veto, it's good for 2 reasons: one, we need to push as much as possible, in increments if needed, b/c the American people want out. So this is one step closer to that goal. That's how it has to be done with the arrogant W. U take it to him in any way u can. And two, he's not supporting the troops by denying the funds. And that's how you paint it. The dems still need some stones in framing argument.
