If you care enough about an artist you buy their music.
However, when I buy an LP, it's much easier to download the music to put it on my mp3 player than to rip it manually. Also, some records are out of print and you can't find them in stores or in eBay.

i do buy, mostly. occasionally i'll download some indian classical music or something of that ilk that i can't find anywhere else, or sometimes i'll download metal that is hard to find and expensive once i do; but otherwise all the music i own is on cd or vinyl.

also, i'm not on a major isp, so this doesn't affect me in anyway.

and what business is this of the governments? why are they getting involved?

I'll believe it when I see it. Would like to know how they'll police this, with invading a bunch a privacy laws.

i think protecting people's privacy is the last thing on their mind when there is money involved.

The music industry "triumphs" again with another piece of utter cack. Ain't gonna stop me DL-ing, that's for sure.
