Actually my first was Without A Sound but Ear-bleeding Country made me buy You're Living All Over Me which made me a fan

Dinosaur was my first.

(Bought it when released in 1985, on import).

I bought it when it was released in 1985, and I remember the whole fuss about their name and having to change it because of the Dinosaurs.

Subsequent reissues had Dinosaur Jr written on the cover, but the spine still said just Dinosaur. I saw that as their act of defiance, although it may have just been an oversight.

I didn't think the album was anything special, and certainly not as good as the stuff bands like Screaming Trees and Husker Du were doing at the time. It was only when they released You're Living All Over Me that they really hit their stride.

(I am old)

The first Dinosaur I heard was You're Living All Over Me in 1991-2ish. I bought it at a used store, the clerk kinda scoffed with indy elitism, but i'm sure if he would've noticed that the "Jr" was missing, he proably wouldn't have sold it to me for the 3$ i paid for it.

It had been recommended to me by a guy I thought was the most punk rock person in the world ever (i was still a teen), and when i first heard it i wasn't so impressed. A couple of years later, my college roomate and i were eating acid and i was looking through all my records and got stuck on the back cover art for probably a few hours. We listened to it a few times, Poledo about sent me over the edge and i have been a fan ever since!

I saw them Thursday in Portland and they were fucking great. The new songs aren't that bad. For the last song of the encore they asked the audience what song they should play. I got Lou's attention and yelled for them to play Sludgefeast. He looked at me and I yelled it again. He then went to J and Murph and told him to play the song and then they went and did it. Fuckin awesome night.

that's fucking cool. they didn't play that when i saw them last summer. i wanted to hear everything from YLAOM, and i think they did at least 6 of 'em. Sludgefeast & Kracked & The Lung are the best examples of everything everyone has ever said about how Mascis blended all the different styles of rock blah blah blah.

I just got the new cd the other day and can't stop listening to it. I downloaded the leak months ago - I really don't think anyone appreciates music til they've bought it... hmm, maybe a subject for another thread.

Oh, and my first dino jr album was Where You Been
