That is the stupidest shit i ever heard. Its good music I take drugs and have taken many different kinds and I DO NOT revolve my experience around what I am listening to but more so what i am doing. Its great to have some good music on when yr fucked up, but only listening to a band cause you like the way they sound when your fucked up is just wierd to me. You dont have to be fucked up to appreciate pink floyd they make it sound like it does when you are fucked up so you are really kind of defeating the purpose. I listen to them when I am dead sober mostly and wallow in pain.

I've nothing against people not taking drugs but I can't get with the whole, I can like [x] band just as much straight as a person who's off their face. That might work for some bands but listening to 808 State on E or Electric Wizard on weed is a totally different experience to listening to either of them on a can of Fanta. It's possible to still like them, but only in the way that it's possible to like a film designed to be watched in 3D without wearing the glasses.

That's right, their brain would react in a different manner due to the strange frequencies the brain has not experienced before, transferring it into a different state. Meditation / pranayama / yoga too does the same without the usage of drugs due to the 'stillness' in the mind. The drugs themselves merely enhance the experience of listening to a good band, they don't exactly make the band what it is. If you get properly mashed and you're in the mood, even a band that you don't like can turn entertaining. And even then it's because the drugs are having a good effect on your body, not what's being played.

yeah it sucked. i try not to dwell on it though. i notice a lot of former users in AA/NA solely identify themselves as former users, and if it works for them, that's great, whatever helps. me personally, i just like to get on with my life.

does anybody know for a fact that Fugazi don't do drugs? have any of them ever made any statements about use of intoxicants in Fugazi days? I haven't read every interview out there, so if there is something where they proclaim themselves drug free, I'd be really curious. I have also a friend who once told me, that he can´t listen early Pink Floyd without drugs. I have always listened them without drugs and they have took me to the whole new dimensions! I have never used nothing more than alcohol. Maybe I could have tried weed, when I was younger (I used to live very small village, there was no drugs available). Now I don´t need any drugs because I have noticed even alcohol has me more negative impacts than positive. I have now so good life, that I don´t have any need to ruin it. I have very great ability to become dependent on things (like these Sonic Youth sites) so I don´t want to take risk.
