I actually got the mv/ee in 3 different editions: the initial super limited Heroine tour CDr, then the cassette (I didn’t realize at the time I was getting the same music again, but as my cd player died right about then leaving me with only the cassette deck for a couple months until I also replaced the turntable it worked out). might make your 2009 list:

Drone Trailer

Orbiting the earth in Vermont is Matt "MV" Valentine, once the brawn of the Tower Recordings, and Erika "EE" Elder, CEO of Heroine Celestial Agriculture and The MV & EE Medicine Show. Together with their dog Zuma, they run the Child of Microtones library of exploratory music--sometimes their own lunar blues, sometimes finger-picking-style noise/space, sometimes lonesome frontier folk.

MV & EE have landed at the DiCristina Building bearing Drone Trailer, featuring The Golden Road: Doc Dunn (pedal steel, guitar, harmony), Mike Smith (bass, fender rhodes, harmony), and James Anderson (drums, engineer). You may recognize these names as part of MV & EE's touring band when they scorched across New England and the Rust Belt en route to Terrastock this past June. Drone Trailer is a consolidation of the previous musical high-life of the duo's space shanties for the 21st century. In other words, MV & EE explore their unique mix of lunar raga and astral string band music, with a couple deep-space burners/covert jams such as opening blast "Anyway" thrown in to bust it all open. Nobody is gonna mind if they hear a little Crazy Horse and prime-era Dead here as well!

I love mv/ee but they're another one of those bands with way too many releases. Especially when I'm trying to complete my raster norton and kranky discographies. Soon......

loosely speaking, I feel he has a number of different repertoires. The Ecstatic Peace and the recent singles showcase his more rock/song oriented craft. The recent Threelobed vinyl release shows his "raga" side (groovy shit too). Then there's the more free flowing Bummer Road that has been best documented on the COM releases, like the recent Hick Smoke, where the songs are just plain weird and go off - far far off.

But like GHQ and the vanishing voice, I've found all the mv/ee side releases rewarding, but it is a challenge to get some of these. There's an mv/ee 7" coming out on a UK singles club ltd to 300, I just seriously doubt I can get one of those. I really like the 7" with Bong Judge, its the fuggin dank.
I can't find the new Brainbombs LP anywhere....in unrelated news.

I'm stoked for the Drone Trailer, Moshe!
