Website Update

Webpage Update:
I added more information on the main page. The picture you see is low quality for loading purposes, so don't mind the little brown lines in the corner, they will be fixed. There is no logo yet, so don't mind the top, there will be when we decide a page name.
The PSD is here

Here's what I need help with:
-I still need people to suggest names for the webpage so I can make a logo.
-Give Opinions on layout update
-Top 10's. Should I have weekly albums? monthly albums? monthly songs? overall top songs? Throw in suggestions!

I should be getting my credit card very soon, so we'll have the site up rather soon. I'll make PDF's for the Reviewers for guidlines and privaleges (you'll get a free email address, and you'll have the privalege to vote for top 10's and artist of the month).

I think the artist, song, album etc etc should be of the week, that way people will want to come more often to get the update.

psd? please don't tell me you're using image slices or (worse, much worse!) image maps.

i haven't opened your file but i'd strongly suggest xhtml + ccs
you can use background images to great effect.

image slices are a primitive method

hard to update, terrible for a lot of people who can't see right

& try opening it in your cellphone/pda & see what garbled crap comes out

xhtml + css + DOM = the way to go

This is just the layout and it's provided purely so people on the board can make revisions that may benifit the appearance of the page. The coding has not been started yet, but I plan to do XHTML + CSS as you said. It reduces file size, so I'm going to have a GIF background with no dither, and the final result ended up being 23seconds/28k modem, which is rather good.

I think the brown boarder needs to be a little smaller.

As for monthly/weekly stuff, I think there should be weekly songs, and artists, and monthly albums.

I wouldn't mind it, if it were a clean cut light/dark brown thing, rather than the ruffly stuff around the edges.

Maybe..
How the page is divided and sectioned off is nice, but it seems to me that it would be even more appealing without a border.
The simplier the better.

Also the font for the titles, reminds me of my mother's scrap books, maybe a simple font would work for that...

Alright thanks, I can't work on it tonight because I saved the file from CS and can't pick it up in 7.0 (which I have at home), because it somehow doesn't support it. Thanks for the help

No problem.

About the logo: Even though I bought more RAM for my computer (I doubled it from 256 MBs to 512 MB), my computer still freezes when I run Photoshop CS (but not at any other time). I don't know what the deal is...

Photoshop's really bad with the ram, I know! I have 512 at home and it's bad with 7.0, and we have 768 at the school and CS is fine. I can get you a 1gb ram stick for $90.00 if you're still looking. I'm going to work on the design more at school sometime, I usually do it during my 3 hour spares. I'm just excited about getting this up and running!
