You reminded me about Evangelion. I have to catch up on that. I saw this one feature length film, where you didnt need to see the whole series to understand it, and even just that one movie blew my mind. I'm not sure whats its called though. It might be End of Evangelion. It might be. I'll have to look into it...I'd love to see it again.

END OF EVANGELION is one of my all time favorite movies.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, the whole series, is definitely worth getting, I found it at a pawn shop for like $30, was totally fucking worth it. The first few episodes had me going "hmmm...." but then about halfway through, I was just like "holy shit." Some of the most mindblowing and insane shit you'll ever watch. I can't even explain it. Broke my mind to pieces.

$30? Nice. It's pretty extensive.

Awesome, I found a download for End of Evangelion.
Yeah, I havent exposed myself to much anime besides the usual akira and so it was a very unusual watch for me. It definitely bent my mind in an orgasmic kind of way.

Would you recommend anything in a similar vein ?

Paranoia Agent
Serial Experiment Lain
Boogiepop Phantom
Perfect Blue
Paprika

are all cool, darker, weirder anime that I enjoy... dunno anything similiar to Akira I guess. I love all the Ghost in the Shells, of course. Obviously, if you haven't seen Dead Leaves or FLCL, those are worth watching and are quite insane.

Right on, Paranoia Agent is available, I'll start with that.

Totally different note, I saw a show once with a little girl that hits people with clubs while singing this cute little girl song, she just said "KIRI KIRI KIRI!" or something, it was really bloody. Very funny though, I loved it. Cant remember what its f'n name is.

1. That I'm thinking about borrowing $1000 to fly this incredibly hot ultra-arty 24 year old Nova Scotian chick with a majorly sexy french name that I'm falling for online out to Portland to meet her in person.

2. That I just told my drunk wife this when she called over from her boyfriend's to check on our son and we both laughed about it together.

3. That I'm about to lose my second grandmother in two months.

4. That I forgot to bring my anti-anxiety/depression meds up to Olympia for the two day training trip I just took for work, and I feel completely fine.

5. That my band's last gig got us fan mail messages from two different artists I completely respect, one of whom is going to join us for our next show.

6. I was watching You Tube with Lennon and Debbie Harry was singing "The Rainbow Connection" with Kermit the Frog, and Lennon asked to get down, then went to his toy piano and started playing along.

7. That when I got divorced the first time Sonic Youth had just put out an album called Washing Machine, and now for the second, when I am much more self aware, they've got a record out called The Eternal. How do they fucking know what I will be going through??

8. I forgot what 8 was for.

9. That I just spent two days in an advanced training for government supervisors and the only thing unusual about myself that anybody caught on to was that I could name all of the characters that were on Happy Days when the trainer had us play Outburst and that I could instantly name Julie McCoy as the Cruise Director on the Love Boat.

10. That I didn't get beat up or even accosted when I sat by myself in professional attire drinking greyhounds in the redneck bar in Lacey I wandered into when my mom called me and told me about my grandmother's heart attack.

Dead-Air, I love you. So many up and downs, I dont know whether to congratulate or scold coldly. #8 is of course your crowning achievement.
I'm sorry about your blow with death at the moment...I have nothing to help you with...

If I actually follow through with #1 that will be my crowning achievement even if it's a disaster.

The thing that really sucks about death right now is that I'm finding myself getting somewhat used to it. The roller coaster of almost, but not quite is the worst part in many ways. You sure don't want to rush it, but the constant false alarms are really harsh and also desensitizing.

The grey area in life is the cause of so much unneeded clutter, only because people go so long thinking things can be black and white.

I hate to say it that way...like other lives are a burden. I've had to deal with one personal death and that was my dads, and it was quick. And I'm glad. For him, and for me.

#1 seems scary, Dead-Air. It's like an investment. What if, you know? What if she doesnt turn out the way you hoped, and same for her.
Blah, sorry, I dont want to spirit-crush. Actually I envy you for being able to take a risk. I should take advice from you.

Ah, what's blowing my mind is just that I'm thinking of it. That in and of itself is uncharacteristic. But if I do it, and tonight it only took two glasses of wine to think I might well, and she's up for it, then the risk would be 2/3s the thrill. I REALLY like her. I don't think that would change. Would we be a good romantic match? No way to figure that out online, but if not, making some sort of monthly payments back to one of my best friends to find out seems reasonable (as if any of this seems reasonable...) I'm 90% certain I'd still want to stay close friends with her even if there was no other chemistry. She's that cool. Meanwhile, I need to do something with the guitar track she emailed me right away. She's a musician and a photographer with an aesthetic so close to mine that it spooks me. Yeah, I think I'm going to borrow the money if she's game...

Have you communicated with her on the phone? Is she willing to put up as much risk?

Its just fucked how differently people can be on the net. You create this idea....

No. Only in the past 24 hours have I formulated the idea in my head. I certainly need to initiate a phone thing next first. She sent an email last night that was rather obviously dropping such a hint, but yeah, you never know if that'll last. If it's just a passing fantasy, I'm still thrilled to be having it, because I obviously needed something like that right now and there it was. I have irons in other fires too, and she's too hot for me to figure she wouldn't.

But... I'm a very textual person on many levels and I can "read" when another person is too. I totally connected with my wife on a message board (we already knew and were attracted to each other, but it would not have happened without the online flirtation, I don't think) and my last two girlfriends before that had a major email courtship element involved too. My first wife was pre-internet, but I wrote and performed poetry back then and she ate that up. So I put a bit more faith in online communications than some people might. It's weird, but the crushes I've had online and had the chance to confirm in real life have all stood up, even one where I'd never seen the girl until we met. I swear I can tell if I like the way somebody looks and smells by the way they write.

Exactly, that would be worth owing $1000 even if the Xs and Os don't turn into real touches and kisses. Hell, I started listening to Sonic Youth the same year she was born. It may not be a healthy romantic match at all, but she's so fucking cool, it might still be worth it.

Don't give up on yourself. Weird shit happens when we least expect it. Sometimes it doesn't even suck.
