Here's another nice little bandcamp treat: Retribution Gospel Choir's Stack Session for KWUR 90.3 FM in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 27, 2010. Downloadable for free, in a variety of digital formats, including .FLAC. Very cool performance consisting of "Electric Guitar", "Your Bird", and "Workin' Hard":

AUDIO-FILES is a new 30-minute television show that goes backstage with some of the world's top musicians.

The show is a visual mix-tape of authentic stories, original ideas, and eclectic people - with each track devoted to the same love: music. Sold out shows, personal interviews, intimate acoustic recordings, and exposure to new music, all make this show a complete sensory experience. Watch for AUDIO-FILES this Spring.

Low (Mimi Parker on piano and vocals, and Alan Sparhawk on guitar and vocals) performing "Point Of Disgust" at Sacred Heart Music Center in Duluth, MN; for Audio-Files:

Looking forward to the whole thing, hopefully soon.

Swans Recruit Karen O, Low, Akron/Family for Album

By Evan Minsker on March 13, 2012 at 01:05 p.m.

Back in July, we reported that post-punk/noise legends Swans were working on a lengthy new album. At the time, they were playing two-and-a-half hour-long live shows ("and the album may be a comparable length," we said) with new songs that were as long as 30 minutes. Now, according to SPIN's interview with Swans frontman Michael Gira, that material is going to be on a new LP titled The Seer, due out this summer via Gira's Young God Records.

The album will indeed feature around two hours of music on a double CD and triple vinyl. Gira also confirmed that some of the tracks would clock in at 30 minutes. Gira told Spin, "To me it’s the complete synthesis of everything I’ve done and Swans has done."

He also teased guest spots on the album from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker of Low, and "Beach Boys-style harmonies" from Akron/Family.
Gira is about to start a world tour performing solo in support of his recent compilation The Milk of M. Gira: Collected Solo Home Recordings 2001 - 2010.

Because Sub Pop is out of the loop. Haha. Yeah, I just received their e-mail and thought, "All of this is old news". In any case, Retribution Gospel Choir's "The Revolution EP" is gonna be officially released next week. I'll be buying it. I'm aware a lot of fans do hate it, though.

What the hey? I thought I was on time to catch the live stream of Retribution Gospel Choir at The Current, but it turns out it is already archived. They performed "Feel It, Superior", "Maharisha", "The Stone/Revolution", and "Take Your Time". You can listen to the .mp3 here:

http://minnesota.publicradio.org/dis...pelchoir-live/

Anyone has any idea how to rip that .mp3? I can see it's a rtmpe link, but my StreamTransport crashes when trying to grab it. Can't remember how I snagged the other Low/Retribution Gospel Choir stuff The Current have other there.

Anyway, this is the most recent Sub Pop e-mail:

Hello there, Retribution Gospel Choir email list member,

We are, it’s fair to concede, coming to you with what some, less imaginative, record companies might consider a “difficult” sales pitch. We have a new 7” Retribution Gospel Choir EP called the revolution EPcoming out March 27th, and you are probably already aware of this, because we already GAVE YOU the entire thing via MP3 for free. Which is to say, you already “own” the thing we’re trying to sell you, and we didn’t even charge you for it. It is unclear how we remain in business. However, you may have noticed the quotes surrounding the word “own” above. While you already have the invisible, weightless, magical digital files comprising the revolution ep, you don’t YET own the EP in its intended 7” vinyl, handsome-artwork-having format. On March 27th, you will have the opportunity to own the physical manifestation of this EP you already know to be great. And, you have the opportunity to pre-order this thing now. Relatedly, we are sale pricing RGC’s 2010 masterpiece 2. If you don’t have that on CD or LP yet, now’s the time.
Plus, Retribution Gospel Choir on tour!
