Alice Coltrane Dies at Age 69
Alice Coltrane died on January 12th, 2007 of respiratory failure at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center.

A pianist and organist, she was noted for her astral compositions and for bringing the harp onto the jazz bandstand. She has performed on numerous recordings, including many on the Impulse! label.

A truly inspirational and dedicated figure, Alice spent much of the last 40 years, managing the archive and estate of her late husband, John Coltrane.

Alice's vision and artistry wil be greatly missed.

I never really much about her but had heard some of her music. I thought that she was Coltrane's sister, didn't even think of her being his wife. I feel dumb now.
