I would just like to add that the poll was not "are you a communist", more, "if you were, which one would you be?"

well no type of communist government has born any kind of likeness to what marx stated in his theory. capitalism will end one day (not in our lifetimes) and something bearing a close resemblance to what marx wrote about will take its place.

As long as we are talking about theoretical situations that don't have to work in real life, I'll go with anarcho-communism.

Free Enterprise Capitalism is the only form of government that actually mirrors nature. It allows the individual through trial and error to make their own mistakes and to learn how to correct them with their own volition and possibly be successful.

The problem with America is corruption which has crippled the proper functioning of this system. It's true that Marx foretold this corruption and a rise of the proletariat, but it's also true that communism is even more easily corruptible since there is no representation at all.

Under socialism and communism, the individual has been negated to a cog in the machine that has life all figured out for them. It's inhumane, despite what ignoramous so-called utopians want to tell/SELL you. I suppose Toilet wants the government to be just like his home life with his mommy taking care of his sorry ass. It's not that he cares about any oppressed people, it just that he'd like to bring everyone else down to his level.

Yeah, I made it personal. Yeah, some of you may not see the point. The point is that the asshole won't leave me be, so he gets a reply that tells it like it truly is. Anyone here can expect the same if they decide to be impious with me. He'll probably try to turn the tables now, and claim that it's he that takes care of his mother which is bullshit considering she no doubt owns the property.

How nice. I'm a bit stuck for words now. My own feelings, working with socialist types, is that charity and kindness are non-political: I share the same goals and morals as these people, I just differ strongly on how they should be achieved, especially by government. The issue of liberty and personal freedom is a major one for me too.

I said I could be no type of communist because socialism means less liberty and less freedom, more controls and more taxes. Oppression, basically.

The rough idea of anarcho-commune has some merit but again, anarchism is something I see as having nothing whatsoever to do with left-wing politics, since it involves the freedom and empowerment of the individual. That doesn't happen in a socialist system.

You've made your non-communist stance clear. A true communist would surely never ask what the state could give him, but what he could give to the state? THe state, of course, never asks for anything; it simply takes everything.

It's sadly true that America is not much of a meritocracy in its democracy. This is why we need a constitutional amendment to limit terms of office to crush conspiratorial corporate corruption. But you get what you deserve. If any of you Americans truly cared, you would already know this and be expressing it accordingly.

In representative democracies, this is ultimately the people's own fault.

It's sad that what you've written is true. It's truly unfortunate that people are mindless drones for the most part that are overwhelmed by their feelings of helplessness and the resulting apathy.

and marx stated for some very logical reasons that i can't remember that the only way to successfully implement communism was through revolution, but there's absolutely no call for revolution in britain at the moment so i'm biding my time. and before people say that china and russia had revolutions but failed as communists that is because they tried to jump straight from fuedalism to communism, which is a flawed stratagy, for some other very logical reasons that i can't remember, plus they had centralized governments which also goes against what marx said. if i hadn't lost this book i used to have i could explain the logic behind all of this instead you'll just have to take my airey word for it.

Not to say that communism can't possibly exist and flourish in one or two nations only .Either you get the complete dictatorship of the ploretariat globally or forget about it.

What I commonly hear is that Marx was a genius and that it was when his theories were implemented into an actual government under Lenin that there was corruption that sullied his perfect system.

I feel this is stretching the truth a great deal, because in acuality, all Marx did was copy Plato's Republic and adapt it to the labor issues of his time. Of course there was the more contemporary influence of Kant as well. Marx and Kant may seem different in their views, but they actually share many similarities.
http://ndpr.nd.edu/review.cfm?id=1445

The Republic that Plato describes from the dialogues with Socrates outlines a utopian state, but bear in mind, that was for a time in ancient history. Ancient Greek democracy was a splendid innovation, but there was already corruption and so when the question was put to Socrates on how to govern, he explored the matter philosophically. Many of the mechanisms that cause democracy to fail to bring about justice are exhibited in the story of Socrates' trial and death before the Council of 500 Athenian citizens as the jury because it shows how the elite patrician class used spin control and preyed on people's fears to manipulate the opinions of the common rabble.

I consider myself a bit more of a marxist than the others. I'm fond of maoism as well, though.
