Sonic's stolen gear

What happened after all of SYs gear was stolen that time. Was any of it recovered and did they catch who did it?

3 guitars have been recovered (which were Lee's) the first was recovered a year a two ago by some fan (i think) who linked an auction on eBay to the serial# and make of a stolen guitar listed on the sonic youth website. The other 2 were just recently recovered personally by Lee by some kid who supposedly has direct links (a relative) to the perpetrator(s) of the theft... word has it whoever did it nevere did get caught but they are currently in jail for other crimes.

this is jsut stuff i recall from my mind, not sure if its all true but i think so, there are more details at chris lawerence's "mustang" section of this site look under "Gearography".

A good "what if" is what would the follow up to Washing Machine have sounded like sans gear
theft.....

It would have sounded like A Thousand Leaves, as the gear wasn't stolen until '99.

I heard the gear that was recovered was used on Rather Ripped.
