Oh my god I can't stand Sonic Youth. "Oh we're so arty we put larsens in everything" - ridiculous! learn to write songs, kids. Stupid lyrics, stupid artistic pretensions, all in all a very boring band. Plus who could love a band who released a track called "Mieux: De Corrosion"? Really? Slay these bastards

Not really. The Liars hating is getting boring man, you already mentionned them twice in a day... maybe you actually like them in the subconscious part of your conscience, but it just gets blocked at Freud's repression border in your brain because of that gay porn picture they did which just stresses you. So it gets you raging and you feel the strange need to mention them even in threads that got no link with them.
Also, nonsensical lyrics != stupid lyrics.

Riiiiight. They suck. They're worse than any of the bands mentioned so far in these threads. I'd start a thread for em but I'm too lazy. I am mentioning em so much because I listened to Sisterworld yesterday and it is by far one of the worst albums I've ever heard.

I haven't heard it yet, and the first track I've heard is not that great indeed, so I won't talk about it - I'm waiting for the proper release to hear it, I don't like leaks. All of their previous albums are great in my opinion though - yeah, even the self-titled one which I found really fun.
Then again it's a matter of taste. I don't even listen to Drum's Not Dead that much nowadays - though I still consider it a masterpiece -, as I'm more into electronic music now. Still, they're a band that changed my perception of music, and I don't think a band that can change one's musical perception so radically can be said to plain suck. To each their own I guess.
End of that stupid message, I don't even know what point I wanted to make. I should not post when I wake up

Have you heard the new Pantha du Prince record, or the new Four Tet record? I don't know if you're into straight techno (though they're not pure techno, but they've got constant 4/4 beats going on most of the time), but those are really awesome. I'm still waiting eagerly for the Rustie record to drop. Wonky music is fucking great

Yeah drum&bass gets boring pretty quick. Be sure to check Extrawelt's album from two years ago if you want some fantastic minimal techno. It is fucking awesome, you can't beat the bass in "Dark Side Of My Room".

Hmm I find their album very good. Sure, I wouldn't listen to it every day, but I don't see how I could not at least move my head to Dark Side Of My Room, Must Attack or Trummerfeld. Plus the production is really incredible, it's one of the things that hit me most when I first listened to it. I'm not into minimal techno as much as I used too (as I said, I'm more into wonky stuff now... however ridiculous that name might be), but I recently checked Schone Neue Extrawelt again and still enjoyed it a lot.

minimal isnt my kinda thing but if it has to be than id rather go with richie hawtin, shed, studio 1 recordings (not the dub label), ricardo villalobos (altho his fabric mix was PURE SHITE!!!) etc..
for me detroit is where its at.

hmm i'm not sure i understand your comparation with the white stripes, but yeah, I guess you've got to enjoy Berlin's minimal techno to enjoy Extrawelt.
